GGR Motor Unveils Pantera R1 & R2 Electric Motorcycle Prototypes — Malaysia’s First Long-Range Homegrown EV Bikes

GGR Legacy (M) Sdn Bhd, or better known as GGR Motor, has unveiled its latest prototype electric motorcycles — the Pantera R1 and Pantera R2 — Malaysia’s first locally designed and assembled long-range EV bikes which claim to be capable of travelling up to 300 kilometres on a single charge.

Managing Director Muhammad Musaddiq Mohamed Azmi said the Pantera series was created to demonstrate the capability of Malaysian engineers to produce high-performance electric vehicles on par with international brands.

“The main goal of launching the Pantera R1 and R2 is to create Malaysia’s first locally made electric motorcycle that can achieve 300 kilometres on a full charge. This will set a new benchmark for the local EV industry.”

The unveiling took place during MARA Automotive Ecosystem (MATEC 2025) at Bukit Jalil and was officiated by Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), Datuk Rubiah Wang, alongside Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, Chairman of MARA.

Also present were Mohd Izwan Mazlan, Director of PMH Motor Sdn. Bhd.; Professor Dr Nizar Abd Jalil, Strategic Partner of GGR Motor; and celebrity business partners Johan and Ajak Shiro.

Dual Battery Setup, 300km Range & Fast Charging

The Pantera R1 and R2 are equipped with two 73.8V / 116Ah batteries, allowing an extended travel distance and fast charging capability, with a full charge achievable in just 30 minutes per battery.

“The key advantage of Pantera is its flexible battery system. Riders can charge at home or swap batteries at swap stations. It’s cheaper, faster, and more convenient without long waiting times,” commented Musaddiq

Powered by a 5,000W hub motor paired with an internationally renowned Votol Controller, the bikes can reach top speeds between 110 – 150 km/h. With no oil changes or engine maintenance required, operational costs are almost zero.

“We want to prove that electric vehicles are not only eco-friendly but can also save people money in the long run,” said Musaddiq

Targeting E-Hailing Riders & Micro Entrepreneurs

GGR Motor aims to serve e-hailing riders and micro-entrepreneurs as its main customer base, helping thousands of delivery workers reduce daily operating costs.

“By switching to electric motorcycles, e-hailing riders can save up to 60% of their daily costs. This isn’t just a vehicle — it’s an economic opportunity.”

To make ownership easier, GGR will introduce easy financing schemes with low deposits and flexible monthly payments. While official prices have yet to be announced, the company promises affordable pricing comparable to mid-range petrol bikes.

Two-Phase Rollout Plan

  1. Phase 1 (Oct – Dec 2025): Establishing the nationwide ecosystem of swapping stations and charging points.
  2. Phase 2 (from Jan 2026): Opening pre-orders for e-hailing riders and the public.

“We’ll only start selling once the ecosystem is ready. We learned from our previous Lion G1 rollout that having infrastructure in place is crucial before market launch.”

Building the EV Ecosystem Through Collaboration

GGR Motor is calling on corporate and private partners — such as retail chains, cafés, and petrol stations — to collaborate on developing swap and charging station networks nationwide.

Musaddiq is inviting companies with multiple outlet, such as 99 Speedmart, ZUS Coffee or fuel stations to collaborate on enhancing the swap and charging network. These GGR bikes are also capable of using EV chargers meant for cars.

He added that GGR is not yet accepting orders as the Pantera R1 and R2 remain in prototype phase to allow for testing and refinement.

New “Subscription Swap Station” Concept

GGR also introduced a Subscription Swap Station model, where businesses can partner with GGR to operate branded battery swap points. Each swap will generate a small fee and a fixed commission for operators, creating a new income stream for local entrepreneurs.

Proven Success & Future Goals

GGR previously sold over 8,000 units of its first model, the Lion G1, which proved the strong local demand for EV motorcycles.

“The Lion G1 showed that Malaysia’s electric motorcycle market is huge. Pantera R1 and R2 will strengthen GGR’s position as a local EV leader” — Musaddiq

Spare parts and aftersales support will be available via GGR Motor Supermarket in Sungai Penchala, Damansara, and through PMH Motor Sdn. Bhd. in Alor Setar — appointed as Master Dealer for the Northern region.

GGR also continues to collaborate with local celebrities, including Farid Kamil (GGR X Farid Kamil) and Johan (GGR X Johan), with Ajak Shiro joining as a new partner. The company will soon open applications for new dealers nationwide in 2026, aiming to expand into regional export markets after solidifying its domestic ecosystem.

According to Musaddiq, GGR will only launch new models along with supporting infrastructure as it wants to ensure a proper EV ecosystem.

GGR isn’t just plugging in — it’s powering up Malaysia’s EV revolution, one bike at a time. When an electric bike promises 300 km range and charges faster than your teh tarik order, you know the future’s revving loud and clear.
