GWM Malaysia boosts KD Production, expected to launch first CKD model in second half of 2024, adhering to GWM’s Long-Termism Business Strategy

Great Wall Motor’s (GWM) long-termism business strategy, which emphasises the four globalization strategic pillars, including Locally Built, Locally Operated, Locally Cultivated and Supply Chain Integrate, has resulted in a remarkable results of 62.59% year-on-year increase in global sales, selling an impressive 201,500 units of overseas sales in the first half year of 2024 alone. With this, GWM Malaysia also flaunts its dominance by launching different types of vehicles in 2024. Next in the pipeline is the eagerly awaited launch of the GWM HAVAL H6, dubbed the ‘Best-Selling SUV in China’, set for release in Q3 2024. It is also set to be GWM’s first CKD (Completely Knocked Down) vehicle in Malaysia.

This GWM Malaysia’s inaugural CKD product is a collaborative project with EPMB, a Malaysian automotive investment holding company. The establishment of a CKD plant in Malaysia will play a significant role in GWM’s plan to establish its market presence in the ASEAN region with a comprehensive sales, after-sales service and spare parts infrastructure network. This strategy partnership strives to offer a more affordable range of high-quality vehicles while generating more employment opportunities for Malaysians. This strategy also expand the production layout of GWM’s overseas, and better meet the needs of users in overseas markets.

In alignment with our global commitment to promoting sustainable mobility solutions, we are expanding our product line by introducing more environmentally friendly vehicles in Malaysia to meet local demands, starting with the launch of the electric hatchback GWM ORA GOOD CAT at the end of 2022. 2024 has thus far been a defining year for GWM as it has made significant strides in increasing its brand awareness and market presence by introducing new vehicle models: the GWM ORA 07 in April 2024 and the GWM TANK 300 in July 2024, which have received an overwhelming response from Malaysian consumers. We are proud to announce that the off-road SUV champion in China has exceeded more than 300 bookings in the short period since its launch in Malaysia.
