Isuzu D-Max Leaps Into Action for the 33rd Borneo Safari — Power, Grit and Galloping Spirit

The mighty Isuzu D-Max is once again set to conquer the wild terrains of Sabah as it leaps into action for the 33rd Borneo Safari, one of Asia’s most challenging and iconic off-road expeditions.
Returning as the Diamond Sponsor for the 19th consecutive year, Isuzu Malaysia continues its long-standing support for the event — proving, year after year, that the D-Max isn’t just a pickup; it’s a legend forged in mud, grit, and endurance.
This year, a fleet of five Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain models and two Single Cab media vehicles will be joining the convoy, each proudly donning a striking new galloping horse livery. The design isn’t just for show — the galloping horse symbolizes speed, progress, and an unstoppable spirit, reflecting both the event’s adventurous soul and the D-Max’s relentless capability.

The convoy will flag off from Jalan Gaya, Kota Kinabalu, on Sunday morning, 26 October, before venturing deep into the rugged terrains between Telupid and Nabawan. As always, the Borneo Safari isn’t just about off-roading — it’s also about giving back. The team will make a stop at Kampung Keramuak to deliver household provisions to local families and distribute goodies to children in the area.
The D-Max X-Terrain sits proudly at the top of the range. It’s powered by a Blue Power 3.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine producing 190PS and 450Nm of torque from 1,600 to 2,600rpm. Power is delivered through a 6-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift, while suspension duties are handled by an independent double wishbone setup with coil springs and stabilisers in front, and semi-elliptical leaf springs with gas shock absorbers at the rear.

For those who prefer a rugged workhorse, the D-Max Single Cab 4×4 variant offers a Blue Power 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine delivering 150PS and 350Nm between 1,800 and 2,600rpm. Paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, it’s built for heavy-duty hauling, tough job sites, and off-road adventures alike.
Fans can catch every splash, slide, and challenge through Isuzu D-Max Malaysia’s social media platforms, as these off-road “monsters” tackle the unforgiving jungles and showcase what true toughness looks like.
Once again, Isuzu proves that the D-Max is not just built for showrooms — it’s built for the wild.
Borneo’s tough terrain meets its match.
