Locally Assembled Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 e 4MATIC Launched in Malaysia, Priced from RM498,888

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has introduced the new GLE 400 e 4MATIC with EQ Hybrid Technology, marking the first-ever plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant of the GLE to be offered in the Malaysian market.

The model is locally assembled at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s plant in Pekan, Pahang, and is positioned as a bridge between conventional combustion and full electrification, combining electric-only driving capability with long-distance flexibility.

First GLE Plug-in Hybrid in Malaysia

The GLE 400 e 4MATIC features a plug-in hybrid powertrain capable of delivering an all-electric driving range of up to 114 km (WLTP), depending on driving conditions. This allows most daily urban journeys to be completed without using the petrol engine.

According to Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, the hybrid system is designed to automatically prioritise electric driving in urban environments, while still offering full performance for longer journeys and highway use.

Powertrain and Performance

The GLE 400 e 4MATIC combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a permanently excited synchronous electric motor, paired to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

An 11 kW onboard AC charger is fitted as standard, allowing charging via a domestic power supply or wallbox. A Mode 2 charging cable is included with the vehicle.

The model also supports all-electric off-road driving via a dedicated Off-Road drive programme.

Comfort and Chassis Technology

Ride comfort is enhanced by the AIRMATIC Package, which features adaptive air suspension that automatically adjusts damping and ride height based on driving conditions, speed, and load.

Mercedes-Benz positions the GLE 400 e as a family-oriented luxury SUV capable of handling daily commuting, long-distance travel, and light off-road usage.
