All-New Electric Mercedes-Benz CLA Previewed in Malaysia, Promising Up to 792 km Range

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has unveiled the all-new electric Mercedes-Benz CLA in an exclusive preview, giving Malaysian customers an early look at the brand’s next-generation compact electric sedan. The model is on display from 15 to 18 January 2026 at the newly launched Stars@Mercedes-Benz Bangsar.
Positioned as the most intelligent Mercedes-Benz ever built, the all-new electric CLA marks the beginning of a new product era for the brand, combining advanced digital architecture, high-efficiency electric performance, and a reimagined design language.

A Key Model in Mercedes-Benz’s Next Chapter
Malaysia remains a strategically important market for Mercedes-Benz as the brand enters its 140th anniversary year, commemorating the 1886 patent of the world’s first gasoline-powered automobile.
“Malaysia remains a key market for Mercedes-Benz, supported by a strong and loyal customer base and a strategic role within the Asia-Pacific region. As our brand commemorates 140 years since the invention of the automobile, we continue to build on our heritage while shaping the future with more product introductions this year. From new electric models to updates across the top-end and performance portfolio, the all-new CLA stands as a clear reflection of the direction Mercedes-Benz is taking — combining innovation, design, and everyday usability.”
— Jens Kunath, Vice President Sales & Financial Services, Mercedes-Benz Cars, MBAG
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has also accelerated the model’s local preview to allow customers an early hands-on experience.
“Today’s preview of the all-new electric CLA marks one of the most exciting moments for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia. It is our most intelligent vehicle and the first of a new generation designed around our customers’ expectations for performance, technology, and design. We are delighted to have accelerated its arrival so our customers can experience this remarkable car up close, and to share this milestone as we celebrate new beginnings into the New Year and Chinese New Year.”
— Amanda Zhang, CEO & President of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia

MB.OS: The Most Intelligent Mercedes-Benz Ever
The all-new CLA is the first production model to fully operate on the in-house developed Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS). Built around supercomputers connected to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud, the system enables regular over-the-air updates, including driving assistance systems — a first for the brand.
At the centre of this digital experience is the latest AI-enhanced MBUX Virtual Assistant, featuring generative AI and short-term memory for multi-turn conversations. Powered by ChatGPT4o, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini, it can answer complex queries, assist with navigation via Google Maps data, and respond to emotions during interactions. The assistant appears as a “living” Mercedes-Benz star avatar on the Zero Layer interface.

Efficiency First: Up to 792 km WLTP Range
Dubbed the “one-litre car for the electric age”, the all-new electric CLA prioritises efficiency without sacrificing performance.
Key highlights include:
- Energy consumption as low as 12.2 kWh/100 km
- Up to 792 km range (WLTP)
- 800-volt electrical architecture
- Up to 325 km of range added in just 10 minutes of charging
This positions the CLA among the most efficient electric vehicles in its segment globally.

Design: Athletic, Digital, and Distinctly Mercedes-Benz
The exterior design reflects Mercedes-Benz’s latest interpretation of emotive athleticism. A long wheelbase, short overhangs, and a pronounced GT-style rear give the CLA a balanced yet dynamic stance. Sculpted surfaces, muscular shoulders, and precise character lines enhance its visual presence.

A major highlight is the reinterpreted A-shape grille, now replaced by a fully illuminated seamless star panel. For the first time on a Mercedes-Benz production vehicle, 142 individually animated LED chrome-effect stars create a distinctive illuminated brand signature.
The CLA also features a full-length panoramic glass roof without a central brace, offering an unobstructed upward view and a brighter cabin experience.

Practicality Gains: Frunk Included
For the first time in a modern Mercedes-Benz, the CLA introduces a front trunk (frunk) with a massive 101 litres of storage. At the rear, the luggage compartment offers 405 litres, adding everyday usability to its sleek profile.
Pricing and Pre-Booking in Malaysia
The Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ with EQ Technology is now open for pre-booking in Malaysia.
Estimated price: From RM 295,888 (on-the-road, without insurance for private registration in Pen. Malaysia)
Pre-bookings can be made via Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s official website.

Recognising Long-Term Customer Loyalty
Beyond new products, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia continues to focus on customer engagement and loyalty. Upcoming initiatives include the 100,000 km Club, designed to recognise owners who have reached this milestone with exclusive privileges and curated experiences, reinforcing the brand’s long-term commitment to its customers.
“The introduction of the all-new electric CLA is not just about a new model but about offering customers a more immersive and personalised way to engage with our brand. This exclusive preview at Stars@Mercedes-Benz Bangsar allows us to bring these innovations closer to our customers and showcase how our brand is shaping the future of luxury mobility in Malaysia.”
— Nadia Trimmel, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia
CarTok Editor’s Note
The CLA has been the starter pack sedan into the Mercedes-Benz world. This new electric version quietly turns it into a technology flagship — efficient, digital-first, and surprisingly practical. If this is the starting point of Mercedes-Benz’s next EV era, it suggests a brand that has finally aligned efficiency, intelligence, and everyday usability.
