OMODA C9 PHEV: Malaysia’s New Benchmark for Plug-In Hybrid Performance

OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia has launched its most powerful model yet, the OMODA C9 PHEV Coupe SUV, setting a new standard for plug-in hybrid performance in Malaysia. With a segment-first Tri-Motor hybrid setup and premium SUV comfort, the C9 PHEV delivers instant electric-like response without compromising versatility or luxury.

Hybrid Technology for Everyday Efficiency

The OMODA C9 PHEV’s advanced Super Hybrid System (SHS) combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with three electric motors—two upfront and one at the rear—producing 395 kW (537 PS) and 650 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h takes just 4.9 seconds.

Dual front electric motors contribute to regenerative braking, improving energy recovery, while six drive modes—including Full EV and Smart HEV—allow drivers to optimise performance and efficiency depending on road and driving conditions.

Fuel efficiency is strong: the C9 PHEV consumes just 1.4 litres per 100 km (NEDC) with a combined petrol-electric driving range of up to 1,100 km. The 34.46 kWh battery enables up to 169 km of pure electric driving, while DC fast charging replenishes 30–80% in just 25 minutes.

Premium Comfort and Advanced Technology

Inside, the C9 PHEV offers a spacious, luxury-focused cabin with heated and ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, and a 14-speaker Sony audio system. Dual 12.3-inch displays, Intelligent Voice Command, and Android Auto integration enhance connectivity, while a 540-degree HD Surround View camera system aids low-speed manoeuvring.

The SUV also comes equipped with Level 2.5 ADAS technologies, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Departure Prevention, and more. Combined with an 85% high-strength steel body, these systems earned the C9 PHEV a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

Locally Assembled with Attractive Packages

Assembled in Shah Alam, the C9 PHEV is priced from RM208,800 (OTR without insurance) and includes a 7-year or 200,000 km vehicle warranty. Engine and hybrid components carry extended coverage of up to 10 years.

Customers who book between 18 March and 30 April 2026 enjoy a RM3,000 Duit Raya rebate, a complimentary Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) connector cable worth RM730, and selected fully imported units with one-year complimentary insurance.

CarTok Editor’s Note

The OMODA C9 PHEV isn’t just a luxury performance SUV—it’s a strategic choice for uncertain times. With volatile fuel costs that could affect the BUDI95 subsidy, hybrid technology gives Malaysian drivers flexibility, efficiency, and a buffer against rising costs. The C9 PHEV proves that high performance and long-term resilience can coexist, delivering a premium SUV that’s both thrilling and future-ready.
