OMODA & JAECOO Malaysia Crosses 17,800 Sales, J5 Set to Anchor Brand’s 2026 Push

OMODA & JAECOO Malaysia capped off 2025 with strong momentum, recording a sharp rise in sales and laying the groundwork for its next phase of growth with the upcoming J5 SUV, due to arrive in the Malaysian market soon.

Since its market entry in 2024, the brand has expanded at a remarkable pace. In its first year, OMODA & JAECOO delivered over 7,040 vehicles. That figure climbed significantly in 2025, with total sales reaching 17,849 units — representing a year-on-year increase of more than 153%.

J7 Drives Volume, PHEV Gains Traction

The bulk of 2025’s growth was driven by the J7, which accounted for 11,522 units delivered nationwide. Alongside it, the J7 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) attracted over 3,000 customers, signalling growing acceptance of electrified powertrains within the brand’s lineup.

“Our strong growth in 2025 is a clear signal that OMODA & JAECOO has moved beyond being a newcomer to become a preferred choice for Malaysian drivers,” said Men Lin Bo, Executive Vice President of Chery Corporate Malaysia.

Men added, “As we head into 2026, our focus is on solidifying our presence as a local automotive mainstay. We are committed to growing alongside Malaysia, ensuring that our global innovation is paired with a service and dealer network that truly understands the needs of our local community.”

J5 Preview: Expanding the Lineup in 2026

Looking ahead, OMODA & JAECOO’s next major step will be the introduction of the J5, a new model positioned to expand the brand’s portfolio and appeal to evolving customer lifestyles.

Bookings for the J5 are now open, with an estimated price of RM120,000. The model is expected to slot into the premium B-segment SUV space, where competition is intensifying.

“The upcoming J5 represents our commitment to diversifying our lineup, offering a vehicle that is not only technologically advanced but also thoughtfully designed to complement the vibrant, tech-driven lifestyles of our customers,” said Chris Tan, Senior Director, Head of OMODA & JAECOO Malaysia. “By combining an advanced infotainment system, best-in-class safety features, generous cabin space, and lifestyle-oriented innovations such as a pet-friendly cabin and karaoke mode, the J5 sets a new benchmark for what a premium B-segment SUV can deliver.”

Growth Beyond Products

Beyond model launches, OMODA & JAECOO says its ongoing focus remains on strengthening brand presence through design, intelligent technology, and a premium ownership experience tailored to modern Malaysian drivers.

The brand operates under the “People + Car + Life” philosophy, with OMODA positioned as a lifestyle-focused, fashion-forward marque, while JAECOO targets buyers seeking a more rugged, premium, off-road-inspired identity. In Malaysia, both sit under a unified strategy aimed at broadening appeal while maintaining distinct product positioning.

CarTok Editor’s Note

Explosive growth is easy to announce; sustaining it is harder. With the J7 doing the heavy lifting and the J5 stepping in as a lifestyle-led B-segment play, 2026 will be less about headlines — and more about whether OMODA & JAECOO can turn momentum into permanence.
