Grab Malaysia Puts Women Partners At Centre Of Hari Kebangsaan 2026 Celebrations
Grab Malaysia marked Malaysia’s 69th Hari Kebangsaan by placing its women driver- and delivery-partners at the centre of its celebrations, highlighting their contributions to their families, communities and the wider workforce.
The company brought together 100 women partners across Putrajaya, Pahang, Penang, Sabah, Johor and Melaka as part of its #WirawatiNegaraku initiative.
The predominantly women-led contingents included driver- and delivery-partners, persons with disabilities (PWD) partners and Grab personnel, offering a visible representation of women’s growing participation in Malaysia’s gig economy.
“Every Hari Kebangsaan we celebrate the people who make Malaysia what it is. This year, we are proud to put our #WirawatiNegaraku at the heart of our celebrations, the women across our Grab ecosystem who work hard for their families, contribute to their communities and build a better future for themselves and those around them. Their stories remind us that nation-building is not only about the big moments, but also the everyday choices, sacrifices and contributions that keep Malaysia moving,” said Adelene Foo, Managing Director, Grab Malaysia.
Flexibility Opens Opportunities
For many women partners, Grab says flexible earning opportunities allow them to contribute financially to their households while managing personal responsibilities.
The same flexibility can also be particularly relevant for PWD partners, providing an avenue to participate in the workforce while building greater independence.
Syuhainie Shaharuddin, a PWD delivery-partner who took part in Grab Malaysia’s women-led contingent in Putrajaya, said the platform had helped her gain both financial independence and confidence.
“Earning with Grab has given me more than financial independence. It has given me the confidence to support myself and the freedom to become an entrepreneur. We are capable of delivering great service and fulfilling our responsibilities just like anyone else. Being part of Grab’s women-led contingent so far has strengthened my patriotic spirit and belief in myself,” said Syuhainie Shaharuddin, a PWD delivery-partner.
Grab also pointed to safety features and initiatives such as #SisBoleh as part of its efforts to support women partners on the platform.
Women-led Contingent At Putrajaya
In Putrajaya, Grab, together with ecosystem partners GXBank and Jaya Grocer, brought together close to 50 marchers for the national-day celebrations.
The contingent included women PWD partners, 10 electric delivery bikes ridden by women delivery-partners and four Grab electric vehicles.
Naomi Say, Head of Regional Platform Safety, Grab, said safety remains an important part of enabling women to work and move with greater confidence.
“At Grab, safety means knowing that you have support when you need it, whether you are heading home after dark or earning on the road. Our safety innovations are more than a feature; it gives women the confidence and peace of mind to move, work and pursue their goals on their own terms. Through our work in safety, we continue to look at how we can better support women before, during and after every journey. Our #WirawatiNegaraku contingent reflects that spirit, women taking charge of their own paths, providing for their families and building their own futures. They remind us that with the right support, women can go further,” said Naomi Say.
Beyond the celebrations in Putrajaya, the participation of women partners across six states gave Grab an opportunity to highlight how women are increasingly becoming part of Malaysia’s flexible workforce.
