Aveta Nova 200 Debuts in Malaysia with Big Scooter Features at Under RM9k

Aveta Malaysia has expanded its scooter line-up with the launch of the all-new Aveta Nova 200, a new sports scooter positioned as a more refined and more capable evolution of its popular Nova range.

Taking the spotlight from the brand’s latest product expansion, the Nova 200 is as a rider-focused model shaped directly by customer feedback, bringing stronger performance, improved comfort and upgraded safety features into one daily-friendly package.

The Aveta Nova 200 carries a basic selling price of RM8,488, excluding road tax, insurance and registration fees.

A More Mature Step Forward for the Nova Range

Unlike a routine facelift, the Nova 200 represents a significant step up for the series. Aveta said the model was developed in response to changing rider expectations, particularly among urban commuters who want more performance without sacrificing practicality.

Power comes from a 183.3cc single cylinder liquid-cooled SOHC engine producing 13.5 kW (18.3PS) and 17.6Nm of torque paired to a CVT. This gives the Nova 200 a noticeable boost over smaller-capacity commuter scooters, while still keeping weight in check. The fuel tank carries 10 litres allowing for longer rides between refuelling.

The scooter rides on 14-inch wheels wrapped in 100/80 front and 120/70 rear tyres, with a 135 mm ground clearance, giving it everyday urban practicality alongside longer-distance capability.

One of its headline figures is its 112kg kerb weight, which makes it one of the lighter offerings in the sports scooter segment. This low weight should translate into easier low-speed manoeuvrability, quicker directional changes in city traffic, and a less intimidating ownership experience for newer riders stepping up from smaller scooters.

Safety Upgrades Lead the Package

Aveta has put emphasis on rider confidence with the Nova 200. The scooter comes equipped with front and rear disc brakes, backed by both ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and TCS (Traction Control System).

For this price point, the inclusion of both systems is a strong value proposition, especially for riders who frequently face wet roads, uneven surfaces and unpredictable urban traffic conditions. This gives the Nova 200 a more premium feature set compared to many entry-level scooters in the market.

Built for Everyday Riding Comfort

Beyond outright performance, Aveta has also focused heavily on daily usability.

The Nova 200 gets adjustable dual gas-charged rear shock absorbers, which should help improve ride comfort over rough city roads and speed humps, paired with a front telescopic fork.

Seat height is 778 mm with the seat revised to include an integrated backrest, a practical touch that should be welcomed by riders spending long hours commuting. Storage remains a key selling point too, with a large underseat compartment designed to better accommodate everyday essentials.

Additional convenience features include:

  • Keyless ignition
  • Idling Stop System (ISS)
  • 135mm ground clearance

These additions reinforce the Nova 200’s positioning as a scooter designed not just for weekend use, but as a genuine daily workhorse.

Sharper Styling, Stronger Presence

Visually, the Nova 200 adopts a more aggressive design direction.

The front end now features a sharper and more aerodynamic headlamp design, supported by enhanced lighting elements and a front winglet treatment that gives it a sportier road presence.

It is offered in three colours:

  • Neon Pulse
  • Nano Grey
  • Nordic Blue

The Neon Pulse finish, in particular, looks set to be the attention-grabber of the range, giving the Nova 200 a youthful and distinctly urban identity.

The Aveta Nova 200 is now available at authorised Aveta dealerships nationwide.

CarTok Editor’s Note

At RM8,488, this feels like Aveta is making a direct play for riders who want maxi-scooter style and tech without stretching into the five-figure territory. On paper, that could make the Nova 200 one of the more interesting value launches in Malaysia’s scooter space this year.
