Proton’s e.MAS 7 EV Powers Into Mauritius — Expanding the Brand’s Global Reach

PROTON’s global electric ambitions just hit another gear. The national automaker, through its subsidiary Proton International Corporation Sdn Bhd (PICSB), officially launched the Proton e.MAS 7 in Mauritius — its fourth international market in less than a year since the model’s debut.

This milestone follows the company’s recent return to Singapore with the same model last month and comes amid growing international demand. The e.MAS 7 has quickly become PROTON’s third most popular export model, trailing only the Proton Saga and Proton X50.

The launch event in Port Louis was officiated by Edmund Lim Meng Thong, CEO of PICSB, and attended by Osman Mahomed, Minister of Transportation for the Republic of Mauritius, as well as Ally Dusmohamud, CEO of Proton Mauritius (Autonexx Group). The event also saw the first ten Mauritian customers take delivery of their e.MAS 7 units — a clear indicator of strong demand even before the SUV’s official launch.

Driving Proton’s Global EV Strategy

Proton’s expansion into Mauritius underscores the brand’s commitment to strengthening its global footprint and accelerating the adoption of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in emerging markets. Since its debut, the e.MAS 7 has surpassed 6,500 units delivered both domestically and abroad, highlighting its wide appeal.

The model is built at PROTON’s new EV production facility in Tanjung Malim, which can produce up to 45,000 EVs annually. This facility plays a crucial role in Proton’s broader plan to export 250,000 units in the coming years while contributing to sustainable mobility.

With over 35 years of partnership, Autonexx continues to play a vital role in building Proton’s presence in Mauritius. The e.MAS 7’s launch marks another chapter in this collaboration, aligning with the island’s growing focus on green and electric mobility.

e.MAS 7: Power, Range, and Peace of Mind

The Proton e.MAS 7 arrives in Mauritius in Prime and Premium variants, each equipped with features that make it one of the most well-rounded electric SUVs in its segment.

Under the hood, the e.MAS 7 is powered by a 12-in-1 electric drive unit producing 160kW and 320Nm of torque, capable of sprinting from 0–100 km/h in just 7.1 seconds. The 60.22 kWh AEGIS Short Blade battery delivers a WLTP-rated range of 410km, ideal for the island’s driving conditions.

Safety-wise, the e.MAS 7 proudly carries a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating, while customers are assured of long-term reliability through a 6-year/150,000km vehicle warranty and an 8-year/160,000km battery warranty.

Early-Bird Offers for Mauritian Buyers

To celebrate its debut, Proton Mauritius is offering exclusive launch promotions:

  • e.MAS 7 Prime: Rs 1,690,000 (on the road, excluding insurance; approx RM156,906)
    • Includes free wallbox charger and e.motion card
  • e.MAS 7 Premium: Rs 1,850,000 (on the road, excluding insurance; approx RM171,761)
    • Includes free wallbox charger, e.motion card, and five years of free servicing (up to 150,000 km)

“A Global Step Forward”

“The introduction of the e.MAS 7 in Mauritius forms part of PROTON’s ongoing strategy to expand its EV portfolio across global markets. Each new entry strengthens our international presence and reflects PROTON’s capability to deliver vehicles that balance technology, performance, and value,”
said Mr. Edmund Lim Meng Thong, Chief Executive Officer of Proton International Corporation.

“The EV plant in Tanjong Malim will enable PROTON to develop the next generation of electric models for the world.”

Looks like the island life just got a jolt of electric excitement.
