Making Its Mark
GWM was an early player in Malaysia’s EV scene with the youthful Good Cat. The Ora 07, aimed at a more mature audience, goes beyond function—it’s designed to stand out.
Its retro-futuristic design blends sculptural curves with fastback coupe cues. The gently sloping roofline tapers elegantly to the rear, giving the car an almost organic appearance.
Frameless doors and flush handles improve aerodynamics, achieving a low drag coefficient of 0.22. Oval LED headlights and tail lights, an electronically controlled rear spoiler, and active front air intakes reinforce its distinctive look. Measuring 4,871 mm long, 1,862 mm wide, and 1,500 mm tall on a 2,870 mm wheelbase with 18-inch dual-tone alloys, the Ora 07 is instantly recognisable on the road.

Cabin Comfort and Practicality
Inside, the retro-modern theme continues with soft-touch materials on the dashboard, doors, and centre console, plus plush carpets for a premium feel. Minimalist design and a panoramic glass roof create a spacious, airy cabin.
Rear passengers enjoy ample legroom despite the sloping roof, with supportive synthetic leather seats and chunky headrests. The only compromise is limited rear visibility when all three rear seats are occupied.

The driver gets a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with three-circle layout, and a head-up display. Front seats are electrically adjustable, ventilated, and include a massage function. Physical dials for climate control and screen demister on the centre console are a welcome convenience.
Other features include an 11-speaker Infinity sound system, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a 50W wireless charger, rear air vents, ambient lighting, and 60:40 folding rear seats. Practicality is modest: one cup holder, a “teh tarik hook” for the passenger, and a 333-litre boot. There’s no front trunk for extra storage or the charging cable.

Powertrain and Range
The Ora 07 Long Range Ultra uses a single front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 150 kW (204 PS) and 340 Nm of torque.
Its 83.5 kWh Ternary Lithium battery promises up to 640 km (NEDC). DC fast charging (88 kW) from 30% to 80% takes 32 minutes; full AC home charging (11 kW) takes about 15 hours. On a mixed 325 km run, we averaged 13.4 kWh/100 km, giving a real-world range of roughly 597 km if this is maintained—or a practical 478 km even after a 20% safety buffer.
Acceleration is smooth and refined, with 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 170 km/h. Agility is sufficient for overtaking, especially in Sport mode, while Eco mode keeps energy use in check. Ride comfort is solid, suspension soaks up bumps well, and the cabin remains quiet even at highway speeds. Steering is light in the city but can feel numb on highways—Sport mode helps.

Safety and Driver Assistance
The Ora 07 comes loaded with ADAS, including adaptive cruise control (stop-and-go), lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and driver fatigue monitoring.
Parking is easier thanks to 360-degree cameras, sensors, and an intuitive intelligent self-parking system. Car Wash mode automatically closes all windows, mirrors, and the rear spoiler.

Verdict: Who Should Buy It?
Priced at RM169,800, the Ora 07 Long Range Ultra is ideal for Malaysians who value style, technology, and comfort over outright sportiness. It comes with a 6-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, 8-year/180,000 km battery and powertrain warranty, 12-year body rust warranty, 1-to-1 battery replacement if capacity drops below 70%, plus 12-month/20,000 km coverage for the original tyres and 12V battery.
It’s not the most spacious or performance-focused EV, but it delivers a unique blend of retro-modern design, comfort, and practicality that stands out in Malaysia’s EV market. The Purple colour option is now only for Performance model unfortunately.
