Kia Carnival 8-Seater Variant Introduced in Malaysia, Priced at RM238,888

Kia Sales Malaysia has officially expanded its popular MPV lineup with the introduction of the Kia Carnival 8-seater variant, a move designed to capture the growing demand for flexible seating configurations among large families and fleet operators.
Priced at RM238,888 (Peninsular Malaysia, excluding insurance and road tax), the new variant slots neatly between the entry-level 11-seater (RM188,888) and the range-topping 7-seater (RM248,888), offering buyers a compelling middle ground without compromising on premium features or practicality.

Why the 8-Seater Makes Strategic Sense
The new Carnival 8-seater adopts a 2-3-3 seating layout upholstered in soft leatherette, delivering enhanced versatility for diverse use cases. The second row features a 40:20:40 split with detachable seats and long-sliding functionality; the middle seat can be configured to face either forward or backward. Outer seats can even be reversed by switching positions—ideal for family interactions, business meetings on wheels, or chauffeur-driven applications.

“With the new 8-seater variant, the Kia Carnival adds a thoughtful new dimension of flexibility and practicality while maintaining comfort across all rows, making it suitable for larger families as well as corporate and fleet applications.”
— Emily Lek, Managing Director, Kia Sales Malaysia
Legroom and headroom match the 7-seater variant, while the third row’s 60:40 split with pop-up and sinking seats ensures cargo flexibility remains uncompromised.

Premium Tech, Proven Powertrain
Inside, the 8-seater mirrors the 7-seater’s upscale cabin experience:
- Curved panoramic display integrating dual 12.3-inch screens (digital cluster + infotainment)
- Horizontally aligned climate and information controls for intuitive operation
- Ambient lighting spanning the dashboard width
- 12-speaker Bose premium audio system
Under the hood, the Carnival 8-seater retains the proven 2.2-litre Smartstream turbodiesel engine producing 202 PS and 440 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. Fuel efficiency is rated at 6.5L/100km (WLTP), enabling over 900km of range on a full tank—critical for long-distance family trips or fleet operations.

Safety and Ownership Value
The 8-seater comes equipped with Kia’s comprehensive Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite, including:
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2.0 (FCA 2.0)
- Highway Drive Assist 2 (HDA 2)
- Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)
- Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCTA)
- Rear Occupant Alert (ROA)
- Plus eight airbags including a centre-side airbag
Ownership costs remain competitive: scheduled service intervals of 10,000km or 12 months could translate to approximately RM3,600 in compulsory maintenance over 5 years. All variants carry a 5-year / 150,000 km warranty.
Kia Sales Malaysia is also sweetening the deal with a ‘We Fuel You’ initiative: buyers can choose between 1.98% p.a. financing for up to 9 years or RM6,000 in TNG eWallet fuel credits.

Fleet and Corporate Appeal
For fleet purchasers, the Carnival 8-seater presents a strong value proposition: local assembly in Kulim, Kedah ensures competitive pricing and supply chain resilience, while tiered servicing packages are available for bulk orders. The variant’s balance of passenger comfort, cargo flexibility, and fuel efficiency makes it an attractive option for corporate shuttles, tourism operators, and ride-hailing fleets targeting premium segments.
“The introduction of the Kia Carnival 8-seater demonstrates our commitment in adapting to evolving market demand. It reinforces our resolve to offer right-fit products for the Malaysian market, leveraging our local assembly operations and the Malaysian automotive supply chain.”
— Hyung Ho Kim, President and CEO, Kia Sales Malaysia
The 8-seater is available in four exterior colours: Meteor Gray, Snowflake White Pearl, Astra Blue, and Jet Black.

CarTok Editor’s Note
Kia is exploiting a gap with its 8-seater Carnival. By positioning this variant between the utilitarian 11-seater and premium 7-seater, Kia is targeting the buyer who needs space but won’t pay flagship prices, as well as fleets seeking premium perception without flagship-level Total Cost of Ownership.
The configurable second row also allows for niche applications such as mobile meeting pods for executives, family-oriented tour packages, or even premium airport transfers, turning this flexibility into its strategy.
