GWM Malaysia has introduced the new WEY G9 Hi4 HEV, expanding its luxury MPV line-up with a self-charging hybrid powertrain priced at RM249,800 in Peninsular Malaysia.
The launch follows the delivery of 2,000 units of the WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV nationwide, giving Malaysian buyers another option in the premium seven-seat MPV segment.
While the existing PHEV combines electric driving capability with long-distance flexibility, the new HEV is designed for customers who want hybrid efficiency without the need to plug in and recharge the vehicle externally.
Both variants share the same focus on premium comfort, intelligent technology and all-wheel-drive performance, but cater to different preferences in electrified mobility.
Hybrid Powertrain Offers 358PS and 782Nm
The GWM WEY G9 Hi4 HEV is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged hybrid engine paired with GWM’s Hi4 intelligent electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system.
The combined system produces 358PS (263kW) and 782Nm of torque, providing the luxury MPV with strong performance for urban driving, highway cruising and longer journeys.
Fuel consumption is rated at 6.5 litres per 100km under the NEDC testing cycle, while the claimed combined driving range is up to 845km.
Being a conventional self-charging hybrid, the HEV manages power delivery between its combustion engine and electric drive system without requiring an external charging connection. Owners can therefore benefit from hybrid propulsion while retaining familiar petrol refuelling routines.

The GWM WEY G9 Hi4 HEV comes with a 14.6-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a head-up display.
Other equipment includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 50W wireless charger, six-zone voice recognition and a 21-speaker premium audio system.
Convenience features include dual power sliding doors, a sensor-operated power tailgate, full-vehicle keyless entry, walk-away locking and remote vehicle functions through the GWM mobile application.
A digital rear-view mirror, 360-degree surround-view camera with transparent chassis view, automatic front defogging and automated parking assistance are also provided.
Safety equipment comprises six SRS airbags and a suite of driver-assistance systems, including Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Intelligent Cornering, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Centre Keeping, Lane Change Assistance, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Braking, Door Open Warning and Secondary Collision Mitigation.
