Malaysia’s First THE GUNDAM BASE Opens at fahrenheit88, Bringing Official Gunpla Hub to KL

Malaysia’s Gundam fan community now has a new flagship destination in the heart of Bukit Bintang, following the official opening of THE GUNDAM BASE Malaysia at fahrenheit88 Kuala Lumpur.
The new store marks the country’s first official flagship retail concept dedicated entirely to Gundam and Gunpla, bringing Bandai Namco’s globally recognised hobby destination to local fans through Bandai Namco Asia and Malaysian distributor Litt Tak Sdn Bhd.
Located on the second floor of fahrenheit88, the store combines exclusive Gunpla model kits, limited-edition collectibles, immersive displays, and hands-on building experiences under one roof — positioning itself as a new lifestyle and hobby destination for both seasoned collectors and newcomers.
Visitors are greeted by a 1.8-metre RX-78-2 Gundam statue finished in exclusive THE GUNDAM BASE colours, alongside a dedicated photo booth area featuring a blueprint-style backdrop of the iconic mobile suit.

Global Gundam Experience Now in Malaysia
The opening reflects Bandai Namco’s continued expansion of the Gundam brand experience across Southeast Asia, while bringing its established flagship concept closer to Malaysia’s growing collector and hobbyist community.

Beyond retail, the store has been designed as a community-driven space that blends product discovery with learning and fan engagement. A dedicated workshop area will host daily interactive model-building sessions from 12pm to 3pm and 5pm to 8pm, beginning 20 April, 2026, subject to schedule updates via the store’s social media channels.
The store carries a wide range of Gunpla kits across multiple grades, including:
- Entry Grade (EG)
- High Grade (HG)
- Real Grade (RG)
- Master Grade (MG)
- Perfect Grade (PG)
This gives both first-time builders and experienced hobbyists access to kits suited to different skill levels and budgets.
Exclusive Launch Models Debut in Malaysia
To mark the launch, four exclusive models are being introduced in Malaysia for the first time, available only at THE GUNDAM BASE Malaysia:
- MG 1/100 THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED RX-78-2 GUNDAM Ver.3.0 [THE GUNDAM BASE COLOR] — RM225
- MG 1/100 THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED GUNDAM BARBATOS (CLEAR COLOR) — RM203
- MG 1/100 THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED DESTINY GUNDAM (HEINE WESTENFLUSS CUSTOM) — RM293
- RG 1/144 THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED BURNING GUNDAM HYPER MODE — RM675

The launch line-up is likely to appeal strongly to Malaysia’s collector market, particularly fans seeking limited-edition variants that are typically harder to source through standard retail channels.
New Community Hub in Bukit Bintang
Litt Tak Executive Director Tan Ee Chian described the opening as an important milestone for Malaysia’s established Gundam enthusiast base.
“The store marks an important milestone for Malaysia’s strong and passionate community of Gundam enthusiasts. THE GUNDAM BASE Malaysia provides fans with a dedicated hub where they can access authentic products, discover exclusive releases and connect with fellow enthusiasts.”
He added that the workshop area is designed as a shared community space that encourages creativity, learning, and engagement among both existing fans and newcomers.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Joyce Yap, Chief Executive Officer of fahrenheit88, said the new flagship concept strengthens Bukit Bintang’s lifestyle and tourism appeal.
“We are pleased to welcome THE GUNDAM BASE Malaysia to fahrenheit88, adding a distinctive new attraction to Bukit Bintang’s vibrant tourism and lifestyle landscape.”

Editor’s note:
Not every machine on an enthusiast’s wishlist needs four wheels. The opening of THE GUNDAM BASE Malaysia is another reminder that passion markets — whether cars, bikes, watches or Gunpla — can thrive when brands create spaces for community, and not just commerce.
