PROTON has launched the Proton X50 Sport Edition (SE), adding 15 exclusive exterior and interior enhancements to the flagship SUV for an additional RM1,999.
Based on the 1.5TD Flagship variant, the Sport Edition introduces a sportier appearance with black exterior treatments, red accents and distinctive cabin details. PROTON said the package includes enhancements worth RM7,000, giving buyers a more individual look without changing the X50’s existing powertrain, technology or safety equipment.
The Sport Edition is offered as an integrated styling package rather than a separate vehicle variant.
Black-And-Red Styling
The exterior upgrades centre on a coordinated black treatment with contrasting red accents. These include black front upper garnish, front side port trim garnish, lower bumper garnish and rear side port trim garnish.
The SUV also gets black 18-inch alloy wheels, exclusive Sport Edition front, side and rear skirtings, and a Sport Edition emblem.
Inside, red stitching on the steering wheel, armrest, door trims and seats adds contrast to the black cabin. Other exclusive details include Sport Edition embroidery on the front seats, TPE floor mats with dedicated floor detailing, and Sport Edition metal door scuff plates.
PROTON shared that the enhancements underwent more than 13,700 hours of testing to cover durability, corrosion resistance, UV resistance and suitability for Malaysia’s tropical climate.
Same Turbo Engine And Flagship Equipment
The X50 Sport Edition retains the Flagship variant’s i-GT 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, producing 181PS and 290Nm of torque. Power is delivered through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
Features include a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside the ‘Hi PROTON’ voice command system and PROTON Link 2.0 connectivity.
The Flagship’s safety and parking equipment also carries over, including 15 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features, Auto Park Assist, 360-degree HD camera with 180-degree Transparent View, and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Through the PROTON Link 2.0 mobile application, owners can remotely access selected vehicle functions and check information such as vehicle location, fuel level, estimated driving range, alerts and trip history.
The application is also compatible with selected Huawei smartwatches running HarmonyOS, enabling supported functions such as engine start and stop, air-conditioning control, door locking and unlocking, power window operation, trunk access, and horn and lights activation.
X50 Sport Edition Price
The Proton X50 Sport Edition costs just an additional RM1,999 over the standard Flagship variant.
The on-the-road prices without insurance, after an October 2026 rebate of up to RM13,000, are as follows:

The Proton X50 Sport Edition is a relatively low-cost way for PROTON to keep its popular B-segment SUV fresh without changing a proven formula.
For an extra RM1,999, for a package claimed to be worth RM7,000, the black exterior treatments, red cabin accents and exclusive trim offer buyers a more distinctive look at a reasonable premium.
However, these are purely styling upgrades rather than a performance package. The engine, technology and safety equipment remain unchanged.
With competition growing in the SUV segment, expect to see more such offerings to draw in fresh appeal and buyers.
