Chery Hands Over TIGGO CROSS HEV to Lucky Draw Winner After PHEV Test Drive Campaign

What started as a routine service visit turned into an unexpected windfall for Joan Gan Cherl Wean, who was picked the Grand Prize winner of a new Chery TIGGO CROSS HEV.
Gan’s name was drawn from a pool of over 1,300 participants during a live winner announcement streamed on Chery Malaysia’s official social media platforms. The contest was part of a nationwide campaign encouraging Malaysians to test-drive the brand’s Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) models.

A Call She Almost Didn’t Believe
The Klangite said she was in a meeting when her mobile phone kept ringing.
“I had to excuse myself to answer the call, and to my surprise, it was a representative from Chery Klang, the outlet where I had test-driven a Chery TIGGO 7 PHEV,” she said.
Initially thinking it was a prank, Gan admitted she did not immediately believe the news. The sales team later sent her a video recording of the live draw session to confirm her win.
“This is my first time winning something from a lucky draw and it is the grand prize, this is a truly a great start for the New Year,” said the mother of two.
Gan added that her husband had been considering switching to an SUV, making the TIGGO CROSS HEV arrival particularly timely for the family.
Campaign Designed to Get Malaysians Behind the Wheel
The contest ran from 9 December 2025 to 6 January 2026. Participants simply needed to test-drive any Chery PHEV model and snap a photo with the vehicle after their session to stand a chance of winning prizes worth up to RM200,000 — including the grand prize TIGGO CROSS HEV.

“We want customers to experience our PHEVs firsthand not just relying on reviews or recommendations by their friends. Once you have driven a Chery PHEV, you not only understand how it operates but also know the Chery Super Hybrid technology better. You will then be able to decide if it is the best fit for you,” said Lee Wen Hsiang, Vice President of Chery Malaysia.
Gan herself has owned a Chery TIGGO 7 PRO for over a year. She joined the contest at the encouragement of staff when she sent her vehicle in for servicing.
At the prize presentation ceremony, she collected her new TIGGO CROSS HEV, with family members already looking forward to the latest addition to their driveway.
More Than Just One Winner
Beyond the grand prize vehicle, the campaign also saw participants walk away with various electrical appliances and electronic gadgets.
The lucky draw formed part of Chery’s year-end promotional campaign, which featured festive rewards and exclusive deals across its model line-up — a strategy that continues to build visibility for its electrified SUV range in Malaysia.

CarTok Editor’s Note:
Test-drive campaigns are often seen as routine showroom traffic drivers. But when a simple spin around the block turns into a brand-new hybrid SUV, it’s a reminder that sometimes, showing up is half the win.
