XPENG X9 Recall In Malaysia: Bermaz XPeng To Replace Front Air Suspension

Official distributor of XPENG vehicles in Malaysia, Bermaz XPeng Sdn Bhd, has announced a recall campaign for affected units of the XPENG X9, following a voluntary recall by XPENG in China involving certain vehicles produced before 11 August 2025.

The recall concerns a potential issue involving the X9’s front air springs. Bermaz XPeng said vehicles from other production batches are not affected.

For affected vehicles confirmed in Malaysia, the company will replace the complete front air suspension assembly at no cost to the customer.

This announcement is significant because the XPENG X9 is equipped with an air suspension system, making the affected component part of a system directly involved in the vehicle’s ride height and suspension operation.

Which XPENG X9 Units Are Affected?

The Malaysian campaign follows XPENG’s voluntary recall in China covering certain X9 vehicles manufactured before 11 August 2025.

However, the production date alone should not be treated as confirmation that a particular Malaysian vehicle is affected.

Bermaz XPeng will identify affected vehicles through its recall process, and customers who require assistance can contact the company’s customer service team or arrange an appointment with an XPENG Authorised Service Centre.

The company has also stressed that vehicles from other production batches are not affected.

Complimentary Replacement

For Malaysian X9 units confirmed to be affected, Bermaz XPeng will provide a complimentary replacement of the complete front air suspension assembly.

This means affected owners will not have to bear the cost of the required rectification.

More importantly, Bermaz XPeng is also extending warranty coverage for the front air suspension system to eight years or 160,000km, whichever comes first.

The extended coverage starts from the vehicle’s registration date and is transferable with the vehicle.

That transferable warranty provision is particularly relevant for X9 owners who may sell their vehicles during the extended coverage period, as the suspension warranty will continue with the car rather than being limited to its original owner.

You Can Contact XPENG Malaysia

XPENG X9 owners who want to determine whether their vehicle is affected can contact the XPENG Malaysia customer service hotline:

+603 7627 3883

Affected customers can also schedule an appointment with an XPENG Authorised Service Centre through the XPENG mobile app to facilitate the required rectification.

Bermaz XPeng stated that it is working with XPENG, regional partners and relevant authorities to prepare parts supply, technical procedures and service capacity before implementation.

The company said it will continue providing updates as preparations progress.

What This Means

A recall involving a suspension component should be taken seriously, but owners should also avoid assuming that every XPENG X9 is affected.

The recall announcement specifically concerns certain X9 vehicles from particular production batches, rather than the entire Malaysian X9 fleet.

Owners should therefore verify their vehicle’s status with Bermaz XPeng rather than relying solely on the vehicle’s registration date or assuming that the issue applies to all X9 units.

For customers whose vehicles are confirmed to be affected, the replacement will be carried out without charge, while the extended eight-year/160,000km warranty provides additional coverage for the front air suspension system.

CarTok Editor’s Note

A suspension recall deserves a different level of attention from a routine software update or minor trim-related service campaign because the suspension system is fundamental to the vehicle’s drivability.

In this case, Bermaz XPeng’s decision to replace the complete front air suspension assembly, rather than risk owners to deal with a potentially failing individual component, is in line with a recall announced in China.

The additional eight-year/160,000km warranty also gives affected owners a meaningful level of protection beyond the immediate recall repair, particularly given that air suspension components can be expensive outside warranty.

For X9 owners, the sensible response is straightforward: check the vehicle’s recall status, make the appointment if affected, and have the rectification completed.

A recall is not, by itself, evidence that an entire model lineup is unsafe. It is the manufacturer’s mechanism for identifying a potential problem and correcting it before it becomes a larger customer or safety issue.
