First Look: Lambretta J200 Previewed In Malaysia Alongside New X250GP Speedster

Lambretta gave Malaysian enthusiasts their first look at the all-new J200 while introducing the refreshed X250GP Speedster at Art of Speed 2026, showcasing the Italian scooter brand’s latest products alongside plans to further strengthen its presence in Malaysia.

Presented by Bike Continent Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Lambretta in Malaysia, the event also saw the brand announce an expanded showroom network and a new consumer campaign in collaboration with VICO.

A Modern Interpretation Of A Classic

Making its Malaysian preview, the Lambretta J200 takes inspiration from the iconic J Series scooters of the 1960s, including the J50, J100 and J125 Starstream, while incorporating modern engineering and rider-focused technology.

The scooter retains Lambretta design elements such as the signature low-and-long proportions, all-steel monocoque body construction, hexagonal headlamp and Double Arm-Link front suspension, blending the marque’s heritage with contemporary styling.

Power comes from a 174.5cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 17hp, while a 790mm seat height is designed to suit a wide range of riders for daily urban use.

Modern equipment includes full LED lighting and a TFT digital instrument display, complementing the J200’s premium positioning as an urban scooter.

Expanding Lambretta’s Presence In Malaysia

Collaboration With VICO

Coinciding with the event, Lambretta introduced the “VICO Bytes to Ride” campaign in partnership with beverage brand, VICO.

Running from 1 August to 30 September 2026, the nationwide promotion offers Malaysian consumers the chance to win exclusive Lambretta J200 VICO Edition scooters, with eight winners selected every week throughout the campaign.

CarTok Editor’s Note

The scooter market has become increasingly competitive, with buyers looking beyond affordability to design, brand heritage and the overall ownership experience. Art of Speed is an ideal platform for Lambretta to preview the J200, attracting a large audience of two-wheel enthusiasts who appreciate not just motorcycles and scooters, but the lifestyle and culture surrounding them.

Coupled with its planned dealer network expansion and continued brand-building initiatives, Lambretta is steadily reinforcing its presence in Malaysia.
