OMODA | JAECOO Surpasses 30,000 Sales In Malaysia Since 2024 Debut

SUV brand OMODA | JAECOO has surpassed 30,000 cumulative vehicle sales in Malaysia, marking a significant milestone less than two years after entering the local market in July 2024.

The achievement reinforces the brand’s rapid rise in Malaysia’s increasingly competitive automotive landscape, particularly within the premium SUV and new energy vehicle segments. According to the company, the momentum has helped OMODA | JAECOO maintain a Top 3 position among non-national automotive brands in Malaysia year-to-date.

Globally, the brand’s expansion has been equally aggressive. In under three years, OMODA | JAECOO has entered 64 international markets and recently crossed one million cumulative sales worldwide, supported by growing demand across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

In Malaysia, the company’s growth has been driven by an expanding SUV portfolio that now includes the J5 and C9 PHEV, along with the J7, J7 PHEV, J8, and C9. This lineup has positioned the brand strongly among buyers seeking modern styling, advanced technology, electrified powertrains, and premium features at competitive price points.

Head of OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia, Chris Tan said the milestone reflects strong support from customers, dealers, and business partners. “This accomplishment is a shared success. It is made possible by the unwavering support of our partners, stakeholders, and most importantly, our loyal customers. Their trust has been the primary engine driving us forward.”

The company also credited its dealer network and strategic partners for helping strengthen nationwide market presence and aftersales accessibility during its rapid expansion phase.

Looking ahead, OMODA | JAECOO said it will continue focusing on electrification and intelligent mobility technologies, with additional models and new energy vehicles expected to join the Malaysian lineup in the coming months.

The brand’s strong local growth also reflects a wider shift happening in the Malaysian automotive market, where buyers are becoming increasingly receptive to feature-rich Chinese SUVs that combine premium cabin experiences, advanced driver assistance systems, and electrified powertrains at pricing traditionally associated with mainstream Japanese models.

As competition intensifies across the SUV and EV space, OMODA | JAECOO’s ability to scale quickly suggests the brand has successfully moved beyond being viewed as merely a new entrant. Instead, it is beginning to establish itself as a serious volume player capable of influencing market expectations around value, technology, and equipment levels.

CarTok Editor’s Note

The 30,000-unit milestone is an impressive one. It shows how quickly Malaysian consumers can adapt to the idea of a relatively new brand and have it sit in the same shopping list as long-established marques.

Five years ago, many buyers still approached Chinese vehicles cautiously. Today, brands like OMODA | JAECOO are proving that solid product design, generous technology packaging, and competitive pricing can accelerate adoption much faster than traditional automotive timelines. The challenge now is no longer getting attention, but in sustaining long-term confidence through ownership experience, reliability, resale value, and aftersales consistency. When that happens, it will no longer be viewed as an emerging disruptor, but as part of the mainstream automotive landscape.
