Jacar Launches Digital Car Care Platform With Goal Of Raising Industry Standards In Malaysia

Malaysia’s automotive aftersales and car care industry has a new digital-first entrant with the official launch of Jacar, a platform positioning itself as a more transparent and accountable alternative to the traditional workshop experience.

The launch ceremony at Jacar’s flagship outlet in Bandar Utama was officiated by Deputy Minister of Economy YB Dato’ Indera Mohd Shahar bin Abdullah, with the company outlining ambitions to standardise pricing, improve service transparency, and digitise customer records across Malaysia’s fragmented car care sector.

Jacar currently operates outlets in Bandar Utama and Bandar Sunway, with plans to expand further across Klang Valley by Q3 2026 before scaling towards a nationwide target of 100 connected outlets.

The platform combines a mobile app-based booking system with live CCTV monitoring, digital service records, warranty tracking, and direct partnerships with established automotive care brands.

According to Jacar CEO Kelly Teoh Zi Yuen, the idea behind the platform came from longstanding frustrations shared by many car owners. “Car owners deserve full visibility — not just a receipt and a hope. We built Jacar to give that back to them.”

A Digital-First Approach To Car Care

Through the Jacar app (iOS and Android), users can book services, select preferred products and brands, choose outlets, and monitor servicing activity remotely through live CCTV feeds.

The platform also stores service history records digitally, alongside warranty documentation and job tracking details.

Unlike many traditional workshop arrangements, Jacar says it works directly with automotive care brands without distributor or intermediary markups, allowing customers to access verified products with clearer pricing structures.

Services currently available through the platform include:

  • Ceramic coating
  • Window tinting
  • Paint protection film (PPF)
  • Car detailing
  • Leather seat care
  • Car washing services

The company says every service provider within its network is certified directly by the respective partner brands.

Four Partner Brands Form Initial Ecosystem

Jacar’s initial network revolves around four established automotive care brands covering different segments of the industry. These are:

  • LLumar (USA) for window tinting and paint protection film
  • KeePer (Japan) for ceramic coating and car wash systems
  • GS27 (France) for detailing and car care products
  • Pecca Leather (Malaysia) for automotive upholstery and interior work

KeePer alone reportedly operates over 6,000 outlets in Japan, while Pecca Leather brings local industry experience through its long-standing involvement in OEM automotive upholstery supply for brands including Perodua, Proton, and Toyota.

Jacar says all products used within its ecosystem are sourced through authorised channels, while technicians undergo brand-specific certification programmes to ensure service consistency.

Focus On Transparency And Standardisation

A major part of Jacar’s positioning centres around addressing common consumer complaints within Malaysia’s car care industry, particularly inconsistent pricing, uncertain product authenticity, and lack of service accountability.

The platform introduces fixed upfront pricing, digital documentation, verified product selection, and integrated warranty tracking as part of its operating model, to reduce any risk of uncertainty among consumers.

Jacar also confirmed that CCTV monitoring is only one part of a broader verification ecosystem that includes digital records, product tracking, and technician accountability.

Workforce Development And Industry Upskilling

Beyond customer-facing services, Jacar plans to introduce a formal certification programme for automotive care professionals. The initiative aims to create more structured career pathways within the automotive care sector, which has traditionally operated with limited standardisation or formal qualification frameworks.

The company says this aligns with broader national goals surrounding workforce upskilling, SME ecosystem development, and digital economy adoption under RMK13 and Ekonomi MADANI initiatives.

Deputy Minister of Economy YB Dato’ Indera Mohd Shahar bin Abdullah described Jacar as the kind of local private-sector initiative the government hopes to encourage. “JACAR ticks several boxes under RMK13 — digital economy adoption, SME ecosystem development, and workforce upskilling through its certified partner network. It is a local company moving an entire service sector up the value chain.”

Expansion Plans Underway

While Jacar’s immediate focus remains Klang Valley, the company says the platform architecture was designed from the start for nationwide scalability.

Its longer-term ambition is to create a fully connected car care ecosystem linking customers, workshops, automotive brands, and car communities under a standardised digital platform. The company also confirmed intentions to work closely with Malaysian car clubs and enthusiast communities moving forward.

CarTok Editor’s Note

Malaysia’s car care industry is quietly a significant but fragmented business. Most owners have probably experienced some version of the same anxiety: unclear pricing, uncertainty over product authenticity, or wondering what actually happened behind the workshop door.

Jacar’s biggest challenge now is not launching the app, but maintaining consistency as the network scales up. Transparency is easy when there are two outlets but becomes much harder when there are 20, 50, or even 100.

Still, if Jacar can genuinely remain consistent with standardise pricing, certification, and accountability at scale, it could end up influencing the wider industry far beyond just tinting and detailing. Because in Malaysia, trust is often the rarest aftermarket product.
