Bermaz Motor’s 12th Mazda Charity Golf Tournament Supports Communities Through Mazda Medicare Fund

Bermaz Motor concluded its 12th Annual Mazda Charity Golf Tournament recently, which brought together 200 participants to raise support for medical assistance and welfare initiatives benefiting underprivileged communities across Malaysia.
Held last week at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, the two-day event gathered business partners, government representatives, Mazda customers and golf enthusiasts in support of the Mazda Medicare Fund (MMF).
The tournament has grown from a modest charitable initiative into one of Bermaz Motor’s key annual fundraising events, reflecting the company’s commitment to combining its automotive business with meaningful community contributions.
The charity luncheon on 10 October was graced by His Royal Highness the Sultan of Pahang, Al Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Al Marhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, who has served as Royal Patron of the Mazda Medicare Fund since 2015.

Also present were Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Mahathar bin Abdul Wahab, Pahang State Executive Council member YB Dato Mohamad Nizar bin Dato Sri Mohamad Najib, and Malaysian Investment Development Authority chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid.
During the luncheon, representatives of five beneficiary organisations received symbolic mock cheques, marking the fund’s continued support for healthcare and welfare initiatives.
The 2026 beneficiaries were Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Yatim dan Cacat Perlindungan Selangor, Pusat Jagaan Anak-Anak Yatim Sai Pandian, Pertubuhan Rumah Anak Yatim dan Asnaf Kampung Sijangkang, and Yayasan Al Sultan Abdullah.
Their work spans cancer care, support for children and orphans, and assistance for vulnerable communities.

Bermaz Auto Berhad executive chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Ben Yeoh said the tournament represented a collective commitment to helping those in need.
“The Mazda Charity Golf Tournament has always been more than a sporting event. It is a collective commitment to uplift communities and extend care to those who need it most,” he commented.
He added that the Mazda Medicare Fund was built on the principle of giving without expectation, with the annual tournament reinforcing the importance of collective action involving corporate partners, government agencies and customers.
Mazda Medicare Fund Expands Its Reach
Established in 2015 through a collaboration between Prima Merdu Sdn Bhd and B. Braun Avitum Renal Services, the Mazda Medicare Fund initially focused on providing subsidised, life-saving haemodialysis treatment for patients with end-stage renal disease facing financial hardship.
Its support has since extended to elderly care homes, orphanages, disability centres and facilities for children with special needs.
The fund evaluates beneficiaries to promote transparency, accountability and meaningful impact, with contributions directed fully towards charitable purposes without unnecessary overheads.

Beyond the annual golf tournament, Bermaz Motor has also developed a longer-term fundraising channel through the Mazda Privilege Card (MPC), introduced in 2018.
The card carries a one-time sign-up fee of RM100, which goes directly to the fund and qualifies for tax exemption by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN).
Cardholders also receive a 15% discount on selected Mazda genuine spare parts and a 5% discount on labour charges at Bermaz Motor and Prima Merdu Mazda showrooms and service centres nationwide.
The programme gives Mazda owners an additional way to support the fund throughout the year while receiving benefits related to vehicle ownership and maintenance.
CarTok Editor’s Note
Bermaz Motor’s community work doesn’t attract the same attention as a new Mazda launch, but its impact goes well beyond the showroom. Through the Mazda Medicare Fund, the company has helped channel support towards essential medical treatment, children’s welfare and other vulnerable communities.
The stand-out fact here is that this initiative is in its 12th year and highlights how an established automotive business is using its influence to engage with its customers and corporate partners to make it sustainable – from the annual charity golf tournament to the Mazda Privilege Card.
It stands as a reminder that corporate responsibility need not be loud to be meaningful. Sometimes, the most valuable work happens quietly behind the scenes. And the real measure of success is the difference it made to people’s lives.
