New Honda City Hatchback Launched In Malaysia, Priced From RM95,900

Honda Malaysia has launched the refreshed City Hatchback, introducing updated styling, improved connectivity and additional safety equipment across three variants, with prices starting from RM95,900.

The new model is available in the V, Petrol RS and e:HEV RS variants, priced at RM95,900, RM100,900 and RM112,900 respectively (on-the-road without insurance).

The refreshed hatchback joins the recently introduced City Sedan, giving Malaysian buyers a choice of two body styles in Honda’s B-segment lineup.

Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Narushi Yazaki said the City Hatchback had established a strong following among Malaysian customers, particularly young professionals looking for a combination of style, individuality and versatility.

Sharper Styling, Updated Interior

The new City Hatchback receives a revised front-end design, with all variants featuring an integrated headlight layout incorporating new connected headlights and Bi-LED headlights.

All variants also get 16-inch alloy wheels, finished in Shark Gray for the V and Berlina Black with Dark Clear detailing for the RS variants.

Four exterior colours are available: Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Stellar Diamond Pearl and the new Blazing Red Pearl. Stellar Diamond Pearl is exclusive to the non-hybrid variants.

Inside, the dashboard features an upgraded 3D-pattern mid garnish and ambient lighting. The RS variants also receive redesigned sport seat trim with red stitching.

Connectivity is improved with a larger 10-inch Display Audio system, while a wireless charger is available exclusively on the e RS.

Practical ULTRA Seats

Practicality remains a key feature of the City Hatchback through Honda’s ULTRA Seats system, which offers four configurations: Utility, Long, Tall and Refresh modes.

The flexible seating arrangement allows the cabin to be adapted for different passenger and cargo requirements, from carrying longer items to accommodating taller objects or creating a more relaxed seating arrangement.

This remains one of the hatchback’s key distinctions for buyers who need everyday usability without moving to a larger vehicle.

Honda SENSING Standard Across The Range

Safety equipment has also been expanded, with Honda SENSING, Blind Spot Information with Cross Traffic Monitoring and Honda LaneWatch now standard across all three variants.

The RS variants additionally get a 360-degree Multi-View Camera System to assist with manoeuvring in tight spaces.

These additions bring a broader range of driver-assistance and visibility technologies to the entire lineup rather than reserving all the key safety enhancements for the most expensive model.

Petrol & Hybrid Powertrains

The City Hatchback continues to offer a 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine or Honda’s 1.5-litre e:HEV hybrid powertrain.

The e:HEV RS produces 109PS and 253Nm of torque. It is covered by a 10-year hybrid battery warranty with unlimited mileage.

Honda Malaysia also provides an eight-year warranty with unlimited mileage for both petrol and hybrid variants.

Launch Rewards And Trade-In Rebates

Customers who register any variant of the new City Hatchback will receive an RM4,000 cash reward under the launch campaign (subject to terms and conditions).

Additional rebates are available for customers trading in their existing vehicles:

  • RM2,000 rebate: Existing Honda owners trading in their vehicles through the selected Honda Certified Used Car programme.
  • RM1,000 rebate: Customers trading in any vehicle brand through CARSOME at participating Honda authorised dealers.

The rebates are subject to terms and conditions.

Customers can book the New City Hatchback through Honda Malaysia’s pre-booking website or visit an authorised Honda dealer nationwide.

CarTok Editor’s Note

Locally assembled in Honda’s facility in Melaka, the refreshed Honda City Hatchback arrives with a more complete equipment package, particularly in safety and connectivity. Making Honda SENSING and blind-spot monitoring features standard across the range is a meaningful improvement, while the ULTRA Seats continue to offer practical flexibility that conventional sedans cannot match as easily.

The e:HEV RS commands a RM12,000 premium over the Petrol RS but offers more torque and efficiency benefits to make it worth considering for buyers who spend considerable time in urban traffic.

But with many choices in the B-segment, Honda Malaysia will need to demonstrate that its established reputation, hybrid technology and aftersales support justify the premium buyers will have to pay over the alternatives.
