Honda And Onitsuka Tiger Blend Motorcycles And Fashion In Milan

Honda has teamed up with Japanese fashion brand Onitsuka Tiger in a collaboration that puts motorcycle culture on the fashion runway, with the Onitsuka Tiger Honda Mid Sports Concept making its world premiere in Milan.

The concept motorcycle was unveiled on 23 September, during Onitsuka Tiger’s show for its Spring/Summer 2027 collection at Milan Fashion Week.

Rather than simply applying a fashion-brand logo to an existing motorcycle, the collaboration combines the visual identity of Onitsuka Tiger with a mid-displacement Honda sports motorcycle as its starting point.

Tiger Yellow Takes Centre Stage

The Onitsuka Tiger Honda Mid Sports Concept is finished predominantly in Tiger Yellow, the fashion brand’s signature colour.

Bold black stripes run across both sides of the motorcycle, while the predominantly black wheels receive Tiger Yellow accents. Logos from both Honda and Onitsuka Tiger are also incorporated into the design.

Honda says attention was paid to details throughout the motorcycle, reflecting the manufacturing and design focus shared by the two Japanese brands.

The concept is currently presented as a design and collaboration exercise rather than a production motorcycle, with Honda describing it as the symbol of the new partnership.

From Motorcycles To Fashion

The collaboration also runs in the opposite direction.

Onitsuka Tiger presented footwear and apparel featuring Honda’s Wing Mark, the emblem associated with Honda motorcycles, as part of its Milan Fashion Week collection.

The collection draws inspiration from motorcycle culture, creating a link between what Honda describes as the “joy of freedom of mobility” and Onitsuka Tiger’s fashion and design heritage.

The decision to unveil the motorcycle alongside the fashion collection also puts the focus on craftsmanship, with both companies highlighting their attention to detail despite operating in very different industries.

Two Japanese Brands With Over 75 Years Of History

The partnership has an obvious historical connection.

Honda was founded in 1948, while Onitsuka Tiger was established in Kobe, Japan, in 1949. Both subsequently expanded beyond Japan and built global businesses around products rooted in Japanese manufacturing and design.

Onitsuka Tiger began as a sports-shoe manufacturer before evolving into an international fashion brand. Honda, meanwhile, grew from its motorcycle origins into one of the world’s major mobility companies.

Honda says the two companies share a focus on technology, manufacturing, craftsmanship and a willingness to challenge established boundaries.

The collaboration therefore goes beyond a one-off colour scheme. Honda says it is intended to make motorcycle culture feel more accessible to people around the world by combining the appeal of motorcycles with the fashion and lifestyle space.

Motorcycle As Fashion Statement

The Milan debut is a departure from the usual motorcycle environment.

Instead of unveiling the concept at a motor show or motorcycle event, Honda placed it in the middle of one of the world’s major fashion weeks. This gives the motorcycle a different role: not only as a machine to be ridden, but also as an object of design and personal expression.

For Honda, the collaboration could also introduce motorcycle culture to audiences who may not traditionally follow motorcycle launches.

For Onitsuka Tiger, the motorcycle provides another physical expression of the brand’s long-standing connection with sports, movement and Japanese manufacturing.

Whether the Onitsuka Tiger Honda Mid Sports Concept ever becomes a production motorcycle not the point. Its significance is as the first tangible symbol of a partnership that Honda says will explore the space between mobility and fashion.

CarTok Editor’s Note

Honda and Onitsuka Tiger may appear to sell very different things, but both ultimately trade on design, identity and the emotional connection people have with their products.

But motorcycles have long been a part of lifestyle and fashion culture. Thus, Honda is just taking this relationship into a more deliberate brand collaboration.

Whether this stays as a visual exercise or develops into something motorcycle buyers can actually experience would depend on how loud the fans are.
