Yamaha YZF-R25 Updated With New Colours In Malaysia, Priced At RM23,098

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor has introduced two new colour options for the Yamaha YZF-R25, giving the lightweight sportbike a styling refresh while retaining its proven mechanical package.

The 2026 update brings Icon Blue — Yamaha’s signature R-Series racing colour — alongside a new Mint Green option that adds a more contemporary and distinctive look. The 2026 Yamaha YZF-R25 continues to be priced at RM23,098, excluding registration and insurance.

Same Engine, Proven Performance

Power continues to come from a 249cc liquid-cooled DOHC parallel-twin engine, delivering:

  • 26.4 kW at 12,000 rpm
  • 22.6 Nm at 10,000 rpm

The engine features fuel injection and a wet sump lubrication system, paired with a 6-speed transmission.

More On Specs

The R25 offers:

  • Assist & Slipper Clutch (A&S) for smoother downshifts and reduced wheel hop
  • Inverted (USD) front forks paired with a rear monocross suspension setup
  • Dual-channel ABS with hydraulic disc brakes front and rear
  • Full LED lighting system
  • Y-Connect connectivity for smartphone integration

Dimensions & Practicality

This is where the R25 continues to make sense for daily use:

  • Seat height: 780 mm (accessible for most riders)
  • Wet weight: 169 kg
  • Fuel tank: 14.3 litres
  • Ground clearance: 160 mm

Tyre setup:

  • Front: 110/70-17
  • Rear: 140/70-17

These numbers reinforce its positioning as a sportbike that’s still manageable for commuting, not just weekend riding.

Still Playing In A Competitive Segment

At just over RM23k, the R25 sits in one of Malaysia’s most competitive entry sportbike segments. Buyers here are increasingly detail-driven — not just looking at performance figures, but also ergonomics, weight, and everyday usability.

This update doesn’t change the formula, but it keeps the model visually fresh in showrooms.

CarTok Editor’s Note

Nothing revolutionary here but the R25 already has the fundamentals right: usable power, manageable size, and proper sportbike hardware like USD forks and a slipper clutch. This update isn’t about adding more but about keeping the R25 visually desirable in this segment.
