Blueshark, iMotorbike Launch ReCycle Trade-in Programme To Push EV Motorcycle Adoption In Malaysia

Electric motorcycle company Blueshark Malaysia has teamed up with iMotorbike Malaysia to introduce the ReCycle Trade-in Programme, a new initiative aimed at making the switch from petrol motorcycles to electric mobility easier and more accessible for Malaysian riders.

The programme allows owners of existing internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles, as well as older electric motorcycles, to trade in their bikes for new Blueshark and SoloEra electric motorcycle models through a streamlined valuation and purchase process managed by iMotorbike.

Trade In Your Old Bike For A New EV Motorcycle

Under the collaboration, customers can bring their motorcycles for valuation through iMotorbike’s nationwide inspection and resale network before offsetting the trade-in value against the purchase price of a new Blueshark or SoloEra electric motorcycle.

According to the companies, the programme is designed to remove one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption among motorcycle owners — uncertainty surrounding resale value and the process of disposing of existing bikes.

Trade-in customers will receive:

  • Fast and transparent motorcycle valuation from iMotorbike
  • Trade-in value offset directly against a new Blueshark or SoloEra purchase
  • No booking fee for upgrades to participating models
  • Hassle-free documentation and processing

For a limited time, eligible customers will also receive Setel e-vouchers depending on the selected model:

  • RM200 for the Solo 1C
  • RM300 for the Solo 2
  • RM400 for the Blueshark R1

Blueshark will also offer additional seasonal promotions and free gifts during the campaign period.

How The ReCycle Trade-in Programme Works

The process begins at participating Blueshark showrooms, where customers submit photos and vehicle details for an initial assessment by iMotorbike.

The motorcycle is then brought to an iMotorbike inspection centre for final evaluation and confirmation of trade-in value. Once agreed, iMotorbike pays the trade-in amount directly to Blueshark, allowing the customer to complete the EV motorcycle purchase with the trade-in value deducted from the final price.

The process also works in reverse, where customers visiting iMotorbike outlets can have their motorcycles valued first before being referred to Blueshark to finalise their new electric motorcycle purchase.

This partnership targets both individual motorcycle owners and fleet operators looking for lower-emission and lower-maintenance mobility solutions.

Collaboration Helps Remove EV Adoption Friction

Jeff Chong, Chief Executive Officer of Blueshark Malaysia Sdn Bhd, said the collaboration is intended to make electric motorcycles more practical for everyday riders. “The ReCycle Trade-in Programme represents a practical and impactful step toward making electric motorcycles more accessible to everyday Malaysians. Many riders want to make the switch to EVs but are unsure what to do with their existing bikes. By partnering with iMotorbike, we are removing that uncertainty and providing a clear, hassle-free pathway to smarter, cleaner mobility.”

Meanwhile, Andy Teh, VP of Commercial at iMotorbike Malaysia, said the partnership aligns with the company’s focus on simplifying motorcycle ownership. “Through this collaboration with Blueshark, we are making the transition to electric completely frictionless. By leveraging our core strengths in transparent valuation and resale, we ensure that our customers who make the change to a Blueshark EV are not only making a sustainable choice but also a financially savvy one for every Malaysian rider.”

Available At Blueshark And iMotorbike Locations Nationwide

The ReCycle Trade-in Programme is available through authorised Blueshark locations including the Blueshark Glenmarie showroom and 3S centre in Shah Alam, as well as iMotorbike facilities nationwide.

Customers can contact Blueshark Malaysia via 03-5569 8633 or WhatsApp 012-371 8862 for further details.

CarTok Editor’s Note

Malaysia’s motorcycle market is still heavily dominated by affordable petrol-powered commuter bikes, so EV adoption at scale will not happen overnight. What Blueshark and iMotorbike are attempting here is less about selling technology and more about reducing ownership hurdles.
