Malaysia’s Best Honda Motorcycle Technicians To Represent Nation At 2026 ASEAN & Oceania Skill Contest

Boon Siew Honda has crowned Malaysia’s top motorcycle technicians following the conclusion of the 2026 Technician Skill Contest (TSC), with three national champions now set to represent the country at the ASEAN & Oceania (A&O) Technician Skill Contest in Jakarta, Indonesia this November.

The bi-annual competition brought together the country’s best Honda technicians after a nationwide selection process involving hundreds of participants from authorised Honda dealerships across Malaysia.

Following theory and practical screening rounds held in January and March 2026, only 16 finalists advanced to the National Final held at Boon Siew Honda’s headquarters in Batu Kawan, Penang.

The finalists represented five regions across the country — Northern, Central, Southern, East Coast and East Malaysia.

Malaysia’s 2026 Honda Technician Skill Contest Champions

The three national champions are:

COM Category 1 (Honda ADV160)

  • Muhammad Al’Amin Bin Yusri : Wei Ling Motor Sdn Bhd (Southern Region)

COM Category 2 (Honda RSX150)

  • Kwang Teck Hing : Kuek Motor (M) Sdn Bhd (Central Region)

FUN Category (Honda CB650R)

  • Aidil Adha Bin Samsumar : Honda Big Wing Johor Bahru (Southern Region)

The winners will represent Malaysia at the 2026 A&O Technician Skill Contest, where Honda technicians from across Asia and Oceania compete under a common international evaluation standard.

This marks the fourth time Boon Siew Honda has sent representatives to the regional competition. Previous Malaysian representatives achieved victory in the FUN Category in Bangkok and finished second runner-up in the COM Category in Manila.

Tested Beyond Technical Knowledge

The National Final assessed contestants using the same benchmark employed throughout Honda’s Asia & Oceania network.

Each finalist completed a 35-question theoretical examination covering Honda service standards and technical knowledge before moving on to practical assessments involving scheduled maintenance, general repairs, time attack exercises and off-vehicle component testing.

Rather than rewarding outright speed, judges evaluated participants on work quality, diagnostic accuracy, correct tool usage and workshop safety procedures.

All 16 finalists received participation certificates during the Award and Closing Ceremony held at Holiday Inn & Suites Juru, Penang, recognising their achievement in reaching the National Final after progressing through multiple stages of competition.

Raising Malaysia’s Honda Service Standards

According to Boon Siew Honda Chief Executive Officer, Kunitomo Asano, the competition reflects the company’s commitment to maintaining high technical standards across its dealer network.

“These three technicians did not get here by accident. They got here because they chose to be the best at something that matters — the craft of keeping a Honda motorcycle performing the way it should. When they step on that floor in Jakarta in November, they will carry not just the BSH name, but the standard that every Honda technician in Malaysia should aspire to.”

The Technician Skill Contest is held every two years and serves as Boon Siew Honda’s national platform to identify and develop technical talent while aligning Malaysian technicians with Honda’s international service standards.

The competition complements the company’s broader aftersales initiatives, including the recently introduced Honda X e-Warranty and Service History features. Launched in June 2026, the new functions allow registered Honda motorcycle owners to monitor warranty claim status and access complete service records through the Honda X mobile platform alongside existing service booking and maintenance reminder features.

CarTok Editor’s Note

New model launches grab all the attention, but it’s in aftersales where manufacturers earn repeat customers. A well-trained technician can solve a problem correctly the first time, reduce warranty costs and improve customer satisfaction — all without being visible to most riders. Competitions such as this are not so much about celebrating individuals than about maintaining a consistent service standard across the entire dealer network. It’s not as glamorous as a new motorcycle unveiling, but arguably, it’s just as important to the ownership experience.
