Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Begins Production of All-New Xforce at Pekan Plant; Bookings Opening This Week

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has officially rolled out the first mass-produced units of the all-new Mitsubishi Xforce from its assembly line at the Pekan plant, marking a key milestone for the brand’s local operations. Bookings for the B-segment SUV are set to open within the same week.

The start of production signals an expansion of Mitsubishi’s locally assembled (CKD) model line-up and reinforces the company’s long-term manufacturing presence in Malaysia.

Upgraded Pekan Facility for Xforce Production

To support production of the new Xforce, MMM has upgraded its Pekan manufacturing operations. Enhancements include the establishment of a new Sub-Assembly Body Shop as well as the installation of additional equipment across the paint, outfitting, and final tester lines.

These updates are aimed at aligning local production capabilities with Mitsubishi Motors’ global manufacturing requirements, ensuring the Xforce is built to the same standards as Mitsubishi models assembled in other markets.

MMM says production at Pekan follows Mitsubishi Motors’ established global production system, developed from decades of Japanese manufacturing practices. Processes covering body assembly, painting, and final inspection are governed by strict quality control procedures intended to ensure consistency, durability, and long-term reliability.

Built to Global Mitsubishi Standards

Commenting on the milestone, Takashi Sakamaki, Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia, said:

“Mass production of the all-new Mitsubishi Xforce represents the application of Mitsubishi Motors’ Japanese manufacturing philosophy at our Pekan plant. Built on precision, process discipline, and continuous improvement, these standards ensure that every Xforce produced here meets the same quality benchmarks as Mitsubishi vehicles manufactured anywhere in the world. Our priority is to deliver vehicles that embody Mitsubishi Motors’ highest global standards, giving customers confidence, reliability, and pride of ownership from the very first day.”

First Deliveries Targeted for April

MMM aims to deliver the first 800 units of the all-new Xforce by April, subject to final quality validation and production readiness checks.

While full Malaysian specifications and pricing have yet to be announced, the Xforce is expected to play a key role in Mitsubishi’s SUV portfolio, positioned in one of the market’s most competitive segments. Local assembly may also allow MMM to price the model more competitively compared to fully imported rivals.

The roll-out of the Xforce from Pekan highlights Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia’s continued investment in local production and its focus on delivering vehicles tuned for everyday usability, durability, and ownership confidence.

CarTok Editor’s Note:

Local assembly alone isn’t headline material in Malaysia. What matters is which models brands choose to build here. By putting the Xforce into Pekan production, Mitsubishi is signalling this isn’t a niche filler — it’s positioning the SUV as a core player.
