Michelin Malaysia has introduced two new premium tyre lines, the MICHELIN Primacy 5 energy and MICHELIN Pilot Sport 5 energy, as it looks to address changing driving habits in a market shaped by electrification, SUVs and growing expectations around efficiency.
Michelin says both ranges are designed for all vehicle types, with a focus on combining safety, performance, long life and lower energy use. The Primacy 5 energy is positioned as the brand’s comfort-oriented premium tyre with triple-A EU label ratings for wet grip, rolling resistance and noise, while the Pilot Sport 5 energy targets drivers who want sportier handling without giving up efficiency.

Florentin Odenwald, Managing Director of Michelin Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei stated: “These new tyre ranges deliver energy efficiency across all applications while maintaining sustainable performance from the first to the last mile, reinforcing Michelin’s commitment to safer, more efficient, and more sustainable mobility.”
“The Malaysian automotive landscape is changing rapidly, with EV adoption accelerating, SUVs dominating the roads, and drivers expecting more from every component of their vehicle. The tyre ranges from Michelin are our direct response to that shift. With the MICHELIN Primacy 5 energy and MICHELIN Pilot Sport 5 energy, we are ensuring that as the market evolves, Malaysian drivers are not left behind”, added Florentin.
The MICHELIN Primacy 5 energy is Michelin’s first AAA premium tyre line and is claimed to offer the longest life in its segment. Michelin says it uses Silent Rib Gen-3 and Piano Acoustic Tuning to reduce cabin noise on both new and worn tyres, while MaxTouch is meant to improve contact with the road and distribute forces more evenly to help extend tread life. It also features Slim Belt construction and the Energy Passive 2.0 compound to improve fuel efficiency or EV range.
In Malaysia, the Primacy 5 energy will be offered in 19 sizes for 18- to 21-inch wheels, with prices from RM614 to RM1,624 at authorised Michelin tyre dealers nationwide.

The MICHELIN Pilot Sport 5 energy is aimed at drivers who want a more dynamic feel, with Michelin describing it as a responsible performance tyre inspired by its motorsport heritage. It carries a double-A rating for wet grip and energy efficiency, and uses Dynamic Response technology for sharper steering response, MaxTouch for tread life, and Bi-Compound construction to balance grip and efficiency. Michelin also says Piano Acoustic technology helps reduce noise for a quieter ride.
This range will be sold in 17 sizes for 18- to 21-inch wheels, with retail prices from RM930 to RM2,006.

Both new ranges also feature MICHELIN Premium Touch, a sidewall treatment that gives the tyres a more refined matte-black appearance.
CarTok Editor’s Note
Comfort, performance, and efficiency have traditionally been treated as trade-offs. Michelin is challenging that assumption with a simple but difficult idea: premium tyres should not force drivers to choose between any of them. Increasingly, tyres are no longer defined purely by grip or longevity, but by how much they quietly improve everyday driving—reducing fuel use, lowering noise, and smoothing out the experience without the driver noticing.
