MG ZS Hybrid+ Confirmed For Malaysia, IM6 Premium EV Makes Local Debut At KLIMS 2026

SAIC Motor Malaysia has revealed the local specifications of the all-new MG ZS at the KL International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, previewing the compact SUV ahead of its official market launch.

The locally assembled MG ZS will be offered in two variants – the ZS LUX Hybrid+ and ZS LUX Turbo. The turbocharged version will arrive at a later date.

According to SAIC Motor Malaysia Managing Director Emory Qi, the introduction of both hybrid and turbocharged variants is meant to broaden MG’s appeal across different customer segments in Malaysia.

“Every MG model introduced in Malaysia is carefully selected based on the needs and expectations of Malaysian consumers in today’s competitive automotive landscape. The MGS5 and MG ZS offer a range of popular powertrains that cater to different market segments, while sharing the same smart, forward-thinking features that define the MG brand,” said Qi.

Largest SUV In Its Segment

MG claims the new ZS is the largest B-segment SUV in its class, measuring 4,430 mm long and 1,818 mm wide.

The exterior features Connected Hunter Eyes LED headlights, black grille accents, aerodynamic body sculpting, LED taillights, a rear spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the ZS gets a 12.3-inch floating infotainment display, a digital instrument cluster and a redesigned cabin with increased passenger space. Boot capacity stands at 443 litres and expands to 1,457 litres with the rear seats folded.

Hybrid Powertrain Delivers 870km Range

The headline powertrain is the ZS Hybrid+, which combines a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 100 kW electric motor and a 1.83 kWh NCM battery pack. Total system output is rated at 158 kW and 465 Nm, delivered through a three-speed hybrid transmission.

MG claims the hybrid SUV can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.7 seconds while offering a driving range of up to 870km from its 41-litre fuel tank.

The ZS also comes equipped with MG PILOT ADAS 2.5 safety features and MG iSMART connected vehicle functionality, allowing owners to access and control selected vehicle functions remotely via a smartphone app.

Four exterior colours will be available: Red, Silver, Black and White, paired with a black interior.

Customers who place an early booking during the promotional period with a RM99 booking fee will receive a RM3,000 rebate and three years of complimentary maintenance.

IM Brand Debuts In Malaysia

KLIMS 2026 also marks the Malaysian debut of IM (Intelligence in Motion), SAIC Motor’s premium EV sub-brand.

Leading the showcase is the IM6, a fully electric D-segment SUV measuring 4,904 mm long and 1,988 mm wide. The model features a panoramic glass roof, leather-style seats and a technology-focused cabin.

Power comes from an electric drivetrain producing up to 572 kW and 802 Nm, while WLTP-rated driving range is quoted at up to 600 km.

Full MG Line-Up On Display

Besides the MG ZS and IM6, SAIC Motor Malaysia is also displaying the MG HS Hybrid+, MG QS, MGS5 EV and Cyberster at KLIMS 2026.

Visitors who book the MGS5 EV during the show will receive a RM7,000 rebate, a complimentary 7 kW wallbox charger worth RM2,000 and RM1,000 worth of charging credits. The MGS5 EV is currently priced from RM116,900.

CarTok Editor’s Note

The MG ZS enters one of Malaysia’s most competitive vehicle segments, where value, efficiency and practicality remain key factors in the buying decision. The arrival of IM also signals SAIC’s ambitions in Malaysia extending beyond mainstream SUVs and into the premium EV space, giving the company a presence at both ends of the market.
