Proton Sales Hit 21,624 Units In October, S70 And Saga Lead The Charge

PROTON recorded 21,624 units in October 2026, its second-highest monthly sales volume of the year and the strongest start to a fourth quarter since 2005, as the national carmaker moves closer to its first 200,000-unit sales year since 2002.
The October performance brought PROTON’s year-to-date (YTD) sales to 182,510 units, a 40.5% increase over the same period last year. The company has already surpassed its full-year 2025 sales volume after nine months.
Estimated market share stood at 30.6% for October and 27.1% for the first 10 months of 2026, based on an estimated total industry volume (TIV) exceeding 70,000 units.
The October market was the fourth month this year to surpass the 70,000-unit mark, with the industry expected to exceed 800,000 units for the third consecutive year.
Proton S70 Takes The Lead In Two Sedan Segments
The updated Proton S70, launched on 11 February 2026, continued to gain traction with buyers seeking a larger sedan with a strong balance of performance, comfort and value.
The S70 recorded 3,029 units in October, its second-best monthly performance this year, bringing YTD sales to 23,448 units. This represents a 63.5% increase over the corresponding period in 2025.
The latest 2027 Proton S70 i-GT 1.5 Lite and Prime variants added another 2,338 units in October.
The new model’s combination of size, comfort, fuel economy and value helped it take the lead in the B-segment sedan category, while the more powerful S70 continued to lead the C-segment sedan market.

Proton Saga Surpasses Its Total 2025 Sales Volume
The Proton Saga remains a major contributor to the company’s overall performance.
A total of 7,352 units were sold in October, taking its sales to 75,589 units for the first 10 months of the year. The figure has already exceeded the model’s entire 2025 sales volume.
The Saga remains Malaysia’s second best-selling vehicle this year, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s most popular choices for buyers seeking an affordable, practical passenger car.
Meanwhile, the Proton X50 also maintained its position as the leading B-segment SUV, with 1,925 units sold in October and YTD sales of 22,088 units.
Further, the larger Proton X90 recorded its best monthly performance of 2026, with 478 units sold in October. Its YTD sales reached 3,728 units, an increase of 75.6% over the same period last year.

Proton e.MAS Sales Exceed 35,000 Units
While PROTON’s internal combustion engine (ICE) models continue to deliver strong sales, its electrified vehicle range has been the biggest contributor to the company’s overall growth this year.
PROTON e.MAS, operated by PROTON’s subsidiary PRO-NET, recorded a combined YTD sales volume of 35,730 units in October, with an overall market share of 33.2%.

The individual model performances were:
| Model | October sales | YTD sales |
|---|---|---|
| PROTON e.MAS 5 | 2,437 | 23,189 |
| PROTON e.MAS 7 PHEV | 710 | 6,962 |
| PROTON e.MAS 7 | 616 | 5,579 |
| Total | 3,763 | 35,730 |
The e.MAS 5 continues to lead the xEV market by volume, while the e.MAS 7 PHEV and fully electric e.MAS 7 add to the brand’s presence across the electrified vehicle market.
Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET, said the growing demand reflects increasing consumer confidence in the brand, supported by its expanding dealership network.
He added that the strong response to the e.MAS range demonstrates Malaysia’s growing appetite for electrified vehicles.
Exports Approach 10,000 Units
PROTON also recorded its highest monthly export volume in October, with 2,610 units of Proton and Geely models produced in Tanjung Malim and shipped to overseas markets.
This brought total export sales for 2026 to 9,980 units, more than doubling the corresponding period last year and putting the company on course to establish a new export record for the PROTON-Geely alliance.
The growth in export demand is also contributing to higher parts orders for local vendors, improving production utilisation and creating opportunities for better economies of scale.

PROTON Deputy Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Ir. Abdul Rashid Musa said the company will continue to pursue sales growth during the final three months of 2026 while working closely with dealers to maintain customer satisfaction.
He also highlighted the importance of aftersales support, including adequate training and parts supply, as the company expands its customer base.
With the Saga, S70 and X50 continuing to lead their respective segments, the e.MAS range contributing more than 35,000 units in YTD sales, and exports approaching 10,000 units, PROTON is entering the final quarter of 2026 with momentum across both its conventional and electrified vehicle businesses.
