Mazda’s premium ambitions in Malaysia have taken another step forward with the arrival of the new CX-60 3.3L MHEV. Building on the foundation laid by the CX-60 2.5L introduced in 2025, the newcomer brings a turbocharged inline-six engine, mild-hybrid technology and a more exclusive specification package to Mazda’s flagship SUV line-up.
The biggest change sits beneath the bonnet. Power comes from Mazda’s e-SkyActiv G 3.3-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine paired with the brand’s M Hybrid Boost 48V mild-hybrid system.
The combination produces 280 hp and 450 Nm of torque, delivered through an eight-speed automatic transmission and Mazda’s rear-wheel-drive-biased i-Activ AWD system. Mazda says the setup combines strong performance with improved efficiency, while preserving the smooth and natural driving character that has long been associated with six-cylinder engines.

Large-capacity six-cylinder engines are becoming increasingly rare as manufacturers move towards smaller turbocharged powertrains and electrification. The CX-60 therefore occupies a distinctive position in today’s SUV market, offering traditional inline-six refinement supported by modern mild-hybrid technology.
The new variant is built on Mazda’s SkyActiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture, which uses a longitudinal engine layout and rear-wheel-drive-biased proportions more commonly associated with premium European SUVs. Drivers can also select Sport and Off-road modes through Mazda Intelligent Drive (Mi-Drive), with the latter making its debut on the CX-60 range in Malaysia.

Visually, the CX-60 continues to embody Mazda’s Kodo design philosophy, but the 3.3L MHEV receives its own exclusive exterior and interior combinations. Buyers can choose between Rhodium White paired with a Pure White cabin or Machine Gray matched with a Tan interior.
Both versions feature body-coloured wheel arches, while the Rhodium White model receives a bar-type front grille and machined-finish 20-inch alloy wheels. The Machine Gray variant adopts a honeycomb grille design, black-plated signature wing treatment and black-finished 20-inch wheels for a sportier appearance.
Inside, Mazda has focused on creating a more premium cabin experience through a combination of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and modern technology. Depending on the selected interior theme, occupants will find wood trim, woven fabric accents and carefully detailed stitching elements integrated into the dashboard and door panels.
The driver-focused cockpit features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment display and an Active Driving Display head-up display. Other highlights include ventilated 10-way power front seats, ambient lighting, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging and a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system.

Mazda’s Driver Personalization System is also included, allowing the vehicle to recognise individual drivers and automatically restore preferred seating, mirror and climate control settings.
Safety remains a key focus, with the CX-60 retaining its five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. The i-Activsense suite includes Adaptive LED Headlamps, Blind Spot Monitoring, Front and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Alert, Smart Brake Support and Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go functionality.
Fully imported from Japan, the Mazda CX-60 3.3L MHEV is now open for booking at authorised Mazda dealerships nationwide. Pricing starts from RM250,000 and includes Mazda’s five-year or 100,000km manufacturer’s warranty together with a five-year free maintenance programme.

CarTok Editor’s Note
The CX-60’s biggest selling point is not its design, equipment or even its premium cabin, but the engine. The automotive industry is steadily replacing cylinders with batteries. Mazda, meanwhile, has slipped a turbocharged inline-six into a family SUV. For most buyers, it will simply feel smooth, effortless and refined. For those who enjoy driving, it is proof that there is still room for engineers to build cars for people, not just regulations.
