GWM Malaysia has recorded its strongest-ever first-half performance, delivering 3,166 vehicles in the first six months of 2026, a 42.4% increase year-on-year.
This achievement places GWM Malaysia among the Top 11 best-selling automotive brands in the country.
The company delivered 1,294 vehicles in Q1 2026 before increasing to 1,872 vehicles in Q2, representing a 44.7% quarter-on-quarter increase.

WEY G9, H6 HEV Lead Growth
The growth in sales came primarily from a couple of GWM models.
The WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV recorded 421 units in Q1 sales before rising to 707 units in Q2. GWM Malaysia said the luxury MPV retained its position as Malaysia’s No. 1-selling luxury MPV among officially distributed OEM brands.
Meanwhile, the HAVAL H6 HEV remained GWM Malaysia’s highest-volume model, with sales increasing from 656 units in Q1 to 895 units in Q2.
The ORA GOOD CAT EV also recorded stronger momentum, with quarterly sales increasing by 93% in Q2.
“Our strongest-ever first-half performance reflects the growing confidence Malaysians have in GWM’s products, technologies and long-term commitment to the market. As we enter the second half of 2026, we remain focused on expanding our product portfolio, strengthening our presence in Malaysia and delivering even greater value to our customers,” said Stan Li Hao, Managing Director, Commercial Operations of GWM Malaysia.

GWM ORA 5 HEV & HAVAL H7 Hi4 PHEV Coming
GWM Malaysia expects its momentum to continue into the second half of 2026, supported by growing acceptance of its hybrid technology and an expanding model range.
Following the preview at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, GWM Malaysia is preparing to officially introduce the GWM ORA 5 HEV and GWM HAVAL H7 Hi4 PHEV.
The GWM TANK 300 HEV is also expected to continue gaining traction as more consumers consider hybrid vehicles. Taking into consideration its upcoming models, the company is projecting sales to hit the 10,000 unit mark this year.
On another note, GWM Malaysia also welcomes the Government’s decision to postpone the implementation of PUA 402, saying the move allows consumers to benefit from existing vehicle pricing structures for a longer period.
The company added that the upcoming enhancements to the Hire Purchase Act could improve financing transparency and accessibility, potentially supporting consumer confidence and a healthier automotive market.

GWM Malaysia Partners Touch ’n Go
GWM Malaysia has also signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Touch ’n Go Sdn Bhd to develop smarter and more connected mobility solutions.
The partnership is intended to provide GWM customers with a more seamless and secure tolling experience while supporting Malaysia’s broader Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) aspirations.

As the first initiative under the partnership, every new GWM (ORA, HAVAL, TANK & WEY) vehicle booked and registered from 1 August 2026 will come with a pre-installed or bundled Touch ’n Go x GWM Branded RFID tag as standard.
The programme is however, currently applicable to eligible vehicle registrations in Peninsular Malaysia only.
“At GWM, our focus extends beyond building great vehicles. We are continuously exploring opportunities to enhance the ownership experience through products, services and strategic collaborations that add meaningful value for our customers. Our collaboration with Touch ‘n Go reflects that commitment by combining automotive innovation with digital mobility solutions to deliver a more connected, convenient and seamless ownership experience.” said Roslan Abdullah, Chief Operating Officer of GWM Malaysia.
Touch ’n Go Sdn Bhd CEO Praba Sangarajoo said the partnership would help make connected mobility solutions more accessible while simplifying the ownership journey through the installation or bundling of the Touch ’n Go x GWM Branded RFID tag.

Merdeka Campaign Offers Up To RM30,000 Savings
GWM Malaysia will also run a nationwide Merdeka and Hari Malaysia customer campaign from 1 August to 30 September 2026.
Customers who book a new GWM vehicle during the campaign and complete registration by 30 September will be eligible to participate.
Six lucky customers will stand a chance to win up to RM1,000 in toll cashback, while selected GWM models will also be offered with savings of up to RM30,000 throughout August.
In addition, every new GWM vehicle purchased comes with five years of free service maintenance.
The toll cashback promotion is applicable to eligible vehicle registrations in Peninsular Malaysia only, with terms and conditions applying.
ORA 5 HEV Preview And Nationwide Roadshows
Ahead of its official Malaysian introduction, the GWM ORA 5 HEV will be featured in a preview programme at selected dealerships nationwide.
GWM Malaysia is also continuing its nationwide roadshow programme, with upcoming appearances including:
- Vivacity Megamall, Kuching: 30 July–2 August 2026
- CarSifu Autoshow, Mid Valley Megamall: 12–16 August 2026
The initiatives form part of GWM Malaysia’s efforts to bring its latest products closer to consumers while building awareness around its growing electrified vehicle portfolio.

CarTok Editor’s Note
GWM Malaysia enters the second half of 2026 with more than just stronger sales numbers. It is on course to beef up not only its product portfolio but also its dealership network. While a wider range of vehicle types is good for consumers, the company knows that aftersales support will be crucial to sustaining growth over the long term.
The Touch ’n Go partnership is just one example of GWM looking beyond the vehicle itself. This matters because buyers are increasingly evaluating the entire ownership experience — from financing and maintenance to charging or refuelling, and other services that come with owning a car.
