JETOUR T2 i-DM PHEV Launched In Malaysia At RM162,800

JETOUR Malaysia has officially launched the T2 i-DM plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in Malaysia, giving its existing T2 SUV a new electrified powertrain option.

Priced at RM162,800 (for Peninsular Malaysia, excluding registration, inspection, hire-purchase ownership, road tax and insurance), the T2 i-DM was launched at the Malaysia Sarong Music Run 2026 at KLCC.

Unlike the existing petrol-powered T2, the T2 i-DM combines a 1.5-litre TGDI dedicated hybrid engine, two electric motors, a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission and an 18.4kWh battery.

The system produces a combined 265 kW (around 360 PS) and 610 Nm.

JETOUR claims the T2 i-DM can travel for more than 100 km on electric power alone, while its maximum combined driving range is rated at up to 1,200 km.

A Different T2 For A Different Kind Of Journey

The T2 i-DM does not replace the existing T2. Instead, it gives Malaysian buyers another powertrain option for the familiar SUV.

The conventional T2 uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission and JETOUR’s XWD intelligent four-wheel-drive system.

The T2 i-DM takes a different approach, using its hybrid system to drive the front wheels.

That means the i-DM is not simply an electrified version of the existing XWD T2. It is a different powertrain configuration designed around the ability to combine electric driving with petrol-powered long-distance travel.

The system can operate in EV and hybrid modes, allowing the vehicle to use electric power for shorter journeys while retaining its petrol engine for longer trips.

The T2 i-DM also retains a claimed 700 mm water-wading depth.

265 kW And 610 Nm From A PHEV System

The T2 i-DM’s powertrain combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine with two electric motors and a three-speed DHT.

Combined output is rated at 265 kW and 610 Nm, giving the T2 i-DM considerably more system output than a conventional petrol SUV of similar displacement.

Its 18.4 kWh battery provides more than 100 km of pure-electric driving range.

The vehicle supports 6.6 kW AC charging, while DC charging is supported at up to 57 kW.

JETOUR quotes a DC charging time of 30% to 80% in 27 minutes or less, while AC charging from 30% to 80% takes nearly three hours.

The T2 i-DM also gets 3.3 kW V2L capability, allowing the vehicle to supply electrical power to external equipment.

Equipment And Interior

Visually, the T2 i-DM retains the rugged, boxy character of the existing T2 but receives its own details to distinguish the PHEV variant.

It comes with 20-inch alloy wheels and is offered in a new Highway Grey (Matte) exterior colour, along with i-DM and PHEV badging.

Inside, the T2 i-DM features a 15.6-inch multimedia display and digital instrument display.

Other equipment includes an illuminated crystal gear selector, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, reverse-linked door mirror function, and parking air-conditioning.

The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while a 50W wireless charger and 12-speaker Sony audio system are also included, along with a soft-closing electric suction tailgate.

Level 2 ADAS And Six Airbags

Safety equipment includes six airbags, Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems and a panoramic view monitoring system.

The ADAS package includes blind-spot detection, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, rear collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic jam assist and integrated cruise assist.

The T2 i-DM also features hill hold control, hill descent control, intelligent high beam and tyre pressure monitoring.

Early-Bird Package For First 2,000 Customers

JETOUR Malaysia is offering an early-bird package for the first 2,000 registered customers.

The package is worth up to RM3,000 and includes a free V2L adapter cable.

Customers can then choose between a 7 kW AC wallbox charger with home installation or RM2,000 in ChargeSini charging credit, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

Financing rates start from 1.68%.

The exclusive insurance package includes EV charger wallbox coverage of up to RM5,000, third-party personal liability coverage of up to RM50,000 and special perils coverage, subject to terms and conditions.

The T2 i-DM is covered by a seven-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, while the high-voltage battery receives an eight-year/160,000 km warranty. The engine is covered for 10 years/1,000,000 km.

The ownership package also includes five times free service, covering parts and labour.

CarTok Editor’s Note

The T2 i-DM is a suitable addition to JETOUR Malaysia’s range because it does not try to turn the existing T2 into something it was never designed to be.

Instead, it gives the T2 a second personality.

The existing T2 is built around a conventional turbocharged engine and XWD all-wheel drive. The i-DM moves in a different direction, using a plug-in hybrid system and front-wheel drive while retaining the T2’s distinctive shape and practical character.

For buyers, the attraction of a PHEV remains fairly straightforward: electric driving for everyday use without giving up a petrol engine for longer journeys.

The 18.4kWh battery and claimed 100km-plus electric range make the T2 i-DM potentially relevant for owners whose daily travel can mainly be covered on electric power, while the claimed 1,200km combined range (full tank + full charge) addresses the longer-distance reality of cuti-cuti / balik kampung driving.

At RM162,800, the i-DM is only RM6,000 above the existing T2’s current price point. This makes the buying decision more about which powertrain makes more sense for your use.

The challenge for JETOUR is to inform buyers on their needs e.g. how often they will charge, how much of their daily driving can be done electrically and what happens when the battery is depleted, etc.

This is where the T2 i-DM’s Travel+ proposition will be tested because it’s not just on the road to a destination, but in the everyday routines in between those journeys.
