PUSPAKOM GEAR Sees Over 90% Slot Uptake As Demand For Faster Inspections Grows

PUSPAKOM’s GiCheck Early Access Reservation (GEAR) is seeing strong demand, with more than 90% of available slots taken since its nationwide rollout.

The premium booking service, introduced to give customers an additional option for securing earlier vehicle inspection appointments, has seen particularly strong uptake from Malaysia’s pre-owned car sector.

For dealers and customers working with tight transaction timelines, getting an inspection appointment earlier can make a practical difference to how quickly a vehicle transaction can move forward.

PUSPAKOM said GEAR was developed in response to feedback from automotive dealers and fleet operators looking for faster turnaround times, while maintaining the existing standard booking channel for other customers.

GEAR Gives Customers Another Booking Option

GEAR was initially introduced in July 2026 as a premium booking option before being expanded nationwide following a successful pilot.

During the six-branch pilot, GEAR recorded a 98% booking rate, approximately 95% customer turn-up rate and an average inspection time of 35 minutes.

Following those results, PUSPAKOM accelerated its rollout to additional branches.

The latest uptake figures show that demand has continued after the service moved beyond its pilot phase, with more than 90% of available GEAR slots now being taken.

PUSPAKOM Chief Executive Officer Mahmood Razak Bahman said the response reflects demand for greater flexibility, particularly from the pre-owned vehicle industry.

“GEAR was introduced because our customers told us they needed greater flexibility. We saw a clear demand, particularly from the pre-owned vehicle industry, where dealers and their customers may need to complete an inspection within a short timeframe. Our role is to listen to these needs and find practical ways to improve the customer experience.”

He said the standard appointment system remains available alongside GEAR.

“The response has been very encouraging, with more than 90% of available GEAR slots taken since the nationwide rollout. This demonstrates that customers value having an additional option when they need an inspection sooner. At the same time, our normal appointment system continues to operate, so customers can continue to use the standard booking channel according to their needs.”

GEAR Does Not Change The Inspection

One point PUSPAKOM is emphasising is that GEAR changes appointment access, not the inspection itself.

Vehicles booked through GEAR continue to undergo the applicable inspection process, standards and requirements.

“GEAR does not change the inspection itself. The vehicle continues to undergo the applicable inspection process, standards and requirements. What we are providing is a digital fast lane to fulfil an urgent demand for earlier appointments, while reducing their dependence on intermediaries to secure an appointment.”

PUSPAKOM said the service continues to adhere to applicable requirements and standards under the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and Road Transport Department (JPJ) regulatory framework.

The pre-owned vehicle industry is among the sectors that stand to benefit from greater access to earlier inspection appointments.

Transactions involving used vehicles can involve multiple steps, and delays at one stage can affect the timing of the overall transaction.

Mr Khoo Kah Jin, President of the Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Car Dealers and Credit Companies Association (FMCKLS), said GEAR provides an additional option when timing is important.

“The preowned vehicle business operates on relatively tight transaction timelines and the ability to secure an earlier inspection appointment can make a meaningful difference to dealers and their customers. GEAR provides an additional option for those with urgent requirements, particularly when timing is important to completing a vehicle transaction.”

He also highlighted the direct booking channel provided by PUSPAKOM.

“From an industry perspective, having a direct channel with PUSPAKOM gives customers greater visibility over the appointment process and reduces the need to rely on intermediaries to secure inspection slots. This is a positive development in making the process more direct and customer-focused.”
