Tan Chong Motor Wins Nissan Global Award 2026 As Malaysia Tops Regional Nissan Market

Tan Chong & Sons Motor Company Sdn Bhd (TCM), the franchise holder for Nissan vehicles in Malaysia, has won the Nissan Global Award 2026, Nissan’s highest recognition for distributor excellence.
Through its sales and marketing arm, Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM), TCM was named the top-performing Nissan market among 20 markets in the region for the fiscal year from April 2025 to March 2026.
The recognition places Nissan Malaysia at the top of Nissan’s regional distributor performance assessment, reflecting ETCM’s performance in business results, customer satisfaction, aftersales excellence and operational effectiveness.
Recognition Beyond Vehicle Sales
The Nissan Global Award Programme is Nissan’s benchmark for evaluating the performance of its distributors worldwide.
Rather than focusing solely on sales volume, the programme assesses Nissan markets across several areas, including:
- Business performance
- Customer satisfaction
- Aftersales excellence
- Operational effectiveness
For ETCM, winning the 2026 award therefore represents recognition of its overall performance as the Nissan distributor in Malaysia, as well as its efforts to improve the customer ownership experience.
The achievement also reinforces TCM’s position as one of Nissan’s stronger-performing distributors globally.
“In an increasingly competitive and rapidly evolving automotive environment, Tan Chong Motor has distinguished itself through exceptional resilience, customer focus and execution excellence. Their ability to consistently deliver strong business performance while elevating customer satisfaction truly embodies Nissan’s vision for distributor excellence. This award recognises the remarkable passion, discipline and teamwork demonstrated by the entire Tan Chong organisation, making them a deserving winner of the Nissan Global Award 2026.” said Mr Masao Tsutsumi, President of Nissan ASEAN & Nissan Thailand.

Tan Chong Motor Credits Employees, Dealers And Nissan Customers
TCM Executive Vice President of Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd, Mr Christopher Tan, said the award was the result of efforts from the company’s employees and dealer network, while also acknowledging the role of Nissan customers.
“We are deeply honoured to receive the Nissan Global Award 2026. This recognition belongs not only to TCM, but also to every employee and dealer partner who has been part of our journey, working tirelessly every day to serve our customers better. We would also like to express our heartfelt appreciation to our customers for their unwavering trust, loyalty and support, which has been instrumental in this achievement.”
The award comes as Nissan Malaysia continues to operate in an increasingly competitive Malaysian automotive market, where established Japanese brands are competing alongside rapidly expanding Chinese manufacturers and newer electrified vehicle offerings.

ETCM To Strengthen Sales And Aftersales
Looking ahead, Tan said ETCM would continue strengthening its sales and aftersales capabilities while focusing on the Nissan ownership experience in Malaysia.
“As we look ahead, this achievement inspires us to aim even higher. We remain committed to strengthening our sales and aftersales capabilities and delivering ownership experiences that exceed expectations. Together with our dealer network and Nissan, we will continue driving meaningful progress, creating greater value for customers and shaping the future of mobility in Malaysia.” added Tan.
TCM said the Nissan Global Award 2026 serves not only as recognition of its achievements but also as a reaffirmation of its commitment to Nissan customers in Malaysia.
The company added that it remains focused on delivering quality, innovation and service excellence as it continues its growth and transformation.

What It Means For Malaysia
Being named the top-performing market among 20 Nissan markets gives TCM an important recognition at a time when Malaysia’s automotive industry is becoming increasingly competitive.
The award is particularly relevant because its assessment covers the complete distributor operation, including Nissan sales, customer satisfaction, aftersales service and operational performance.
For Nissan customers in Malaysia, the more important test will be whether this performance translates into stronger product support, improved aftersales service and a better ownership experience going forward.
For now, however, TCM’s Nissan Global Award 2026 win gives Nissan Malaysia a notable distinction: it was ranked the best-performing Nissan market among the 20 markets evaluated for the April 2025 to March 2026 fiscal year.
CarTok Editor’s Note
The significance of TCM’s Nissan Global Award 2026 win goes beyond the trophy. Being ranked first among 20 Nissan markets suggests that Malaysia performed strongly across the wider distributor operation, as the benchmark isn’t purely reliant on sales numbers.
The challenge for Tan Chong now is sustaining this performance. With Malaysia’s automotive market becoming more competitive, Nissan’s success will increasingly depend on the strength of its products, dealer network and aftersales experience, areas that will ultimately determine whether distributor-level recognition translates into stronger customer confidence.
