Nissan has confirmed that the new X-Trail e-POWER x e-4ORCE will be launched in Malaysia in the fourth quarter of 2026 following its regional debut at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026.
Presented by Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM), the electrified SUV is the third Nissan e-POWER model earmarked for the Malaysian market, joining the Nissan KICKS e-POWER and the locally assembled Nissan Serena e-POWER.
Expanding The e-POWER Line-Up
The new X-Trail combines Nissan’s e-POWER electrified powertrain with the brand’s e-4ORCE all-wheel-control system, bringing both technologies together in a larger SUV package.
Unlike conventional hybrid systems, Nissan’s e-POWER setup uses an electric motor to drive the wheels at all times. The petrol engine is solely to generate electricity and recharge the battery, eliminating the need for external charging while delivering an EV-like driving experience.
According to Nissan, the system provides instant acceleration, smoother performance and quieter operation compared to traditional internal combustion-powered vehicles.
Masao Tsutsumi, President of Nissan ASEAN and Nissan Thailand, described Malaysia as an important market for the brand’s regional growth plans and said the introduction of the X-Trail e-POWER x e-4ORCE represents another step in expanding Nissan’s electrified offerings in the region.

What Is e-4ORCE?
A major highlight of the new X-Trail is Nissan’s e-4ORCE electric all-wheel-control technology.
The system uses dual electric motors to independently control torque delivery between the front and rear axles while also managing braking force at each wheel. Nissan says this allows faster and more precise responses compared to conventional mechanical all-wheel-drive systems.
Benefits include improved traction, enhanced stability, smoother deceleration and greater confidence across varying road and weather conditions.
By continuously adjusting power distribution in real time, e-4ORCE is designed to improve handling precision while maintaining ride comfort for passengers.

Malaysia Chosen As A Strategic Launch Market
ETCM Executive Vice President Christopher Tan confirmed Malaysia has been selected as one of Nissan’s strategic launch markets for the new electrified SUV.
He said the arrival of the X-Trail e-POWER x e-4ORCE builds on the introduction of the KICKS e-POWER and Serena e-POWER, further strengthening Nissan’s electrification strategy in Malaysia.
At KLIMS 2026, the X-Trail is displayed alongside the Nissan Serena e-POWER and Nissan KICKS e-POWER, showcasing Nissan’s range of electrified vehicles across multiple segments.

Manga-Inspired Nissan Booth
Beyond the vehicle launch, Nissan’s KLIMS 2026 display features a manga-inspired interpretation of “Nissan Crossing Ginza”, transforming its exhibition space into a Japanese-themed immersive experience that combines elements of design, culture and electrified mobility.
Further specifications and pricing for the Malaysian-market X-Trail e-POWER x e-4ORCE are expected to be announced closer to its Q4 2026 launch. At this point in time, the X-Trail is expected to come in CBU from Japan.

CarTok Editor’s Note
The X-Trail e-POWER x e-4ORCE could become Nissan’s most important model in Malaysia’s increasingly crowded electrified SUV segment, seeing how popular the SUV body style is. More importantly, it introduces e-4ORCE technology to local buyers, giving Nissan a clear technical differentiator. Whether that translates into stronger sales will ultimately depend on pricing, but Nissan now has a much more complete electrified line-up than it did just two years ago.
