PUSPAKOM Launches GiCheck Auto Weekend 2026 To Promote Road Safety Awareness
Over the weekend, PUSPAKOM Sdn Bhd launched its inaugural GiCheck Auto Weekend 2026, a two-day community event aimed at raising road safety awareness and improving public understanding of vehicle inspections among Malaysian motorists.
Held at the outdoor car park of AEON Bukit Tinggi, Klang, on 5 and 6 September, the event was organised under the theme “Driving Safer Roads Together” as part of the Merdeka season celebrations.
The launch was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Mohamed Irwan bin Mansor, Under Secretary (Land Division), Ministry of Transport, representing YBhg. Dato’ Sri Jana Santhiran Muniayan, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport.
He was joined by PUSPAKOM Chief Executive Officer Mahmood Razak Bahman, industry partners, stakeholders, members of the media and members of the public.
Taking Road Safety Education Beyond Vehicle Inspections
GiCheck Auto Weekend 2026 marked a more community-focused approach by PUSPAKOM to road safety education, bringing together vehicle inspection awareness, safe driving education, automotive experiences and family activities.
Mahmood said road safety involves more than simply ensuring vehicles are roadworthy, highlighting the importance of driver awareness and responsible behaviour among all road users.
“Road safety goes beyond ensuring that vehicles are roadworthy. It requires greater awareness, responsible driving behaviour and a collective commitment from all road users. Through GiCheck Auto Weekend, we want to make road safety education more accessible, engaging and relevant to everyday Malaysians while strengthening public understanding of the important role that vehicle inspections play in keeping our roads safe,”
He added that road safety is a collective national responsibility requiring collaboration between the government, automotive industry and community.
PUSPAKOM Inspections To Operate Seven-Day Week
One of the key announcements made during the event was the introduction of seven-day operations at selected PUSPAKOM inspection centres.
This initiative is intended to give customers greater flexibility when scheduling vehicle inspections, while increasing inspection capacity to better meet demand.
The company also announced the upcoming PUSPAKOM Towering Malaysian Awards, a new recognition programme designed to honour unsung Malaysians whose actions have made a positive difference to individuals, communities or the environment.
The awards are being developed together with selected strategic partners and media organisations, with further details to be announced later.
Additionally, PUSPAKOM is scheduled to open a new facility in Bandar Teknologi Kajang in December 2026 to further expand its services capacity.
Building Road Safety Awareness
A major component of GiCheck Auto Weekend 2026 was its range of interactive road safety demonstrations.
At the event, visitors got to experience the PUSPAKOM Pit Stop, Doorstep Inspection Service area and the Carro Pre-Owned Car Marketplace, while also observing several educational activities.
These included a DUI Simulation Experience, seat belt convincer demonstrations, blind spot awareness activities and tyre safety inspections.
The activities were designed to demonstrate the risks motorists face on the road and encourage safer driving habits through hands-on experiences rather than conventional road safety messaging alone.
Visitors could also take part in safe driving demonstrations, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) showcases, children’s driving experiences, technical sharing sessions and private vehicle inspections.
Activities For All
Beyond road safety education, the two-day event featured automotive exhibitions, partner showcases and Merdeka-themed community activities.
Eligible vehicles could also undergo inspections through PUSPAKOM’s Doorstep Inspection Service, while visitors could browse pre-owned vehicles at Carro’s marketplace.
The event also featured family-oriented activities and lucky draws, with a MODENAS Kriss 110 motorcycle sponsored by MODENAS offered as the grand prize.
GiCheck Auto Weekend 2026 received support from a range of industry partners and exhibitors, including EON, Bank Muamalat, MODENAS, Pos Malaysia, Kärcher, Fire Fighter, 70mai and Lim Tayar.
