Aeson Power Debuts Next-Generation Sodium-Ion Automotive Batteries in Malaysia – A Safer, Longer-Lasting Alternative to Lead-Acid

Aeson Power has officially entered the Malaysian market with the launch of its next-generation Sodium-ion automotive battery range — the NaPulse Starting, NaPulse Start-Stop, and NaForce Start-Stop series. The introduction highlights the company’s technological innovation and the advantages of Sodium-ion batteries over conventional lead-acid types, positioning Aeson Power as a new force in the vehicle energy storage sector.

The new Sodium-ion lineup is designed to be compatible with over 95% of vehicles on the market, spanning personal, commercial, industrial, and utility applications. Available from RM369, these batteries come with a three-year warranty, tripling the typical one-year coverage offered by most lead-acid batteries.

According to Jin Chan, Managing Director of Aeson Power, the launch marks a significant milestone for the company’s expansion into Southeast Asia. “Today’s launch represents a big milestone for Aeson Power as we introduce our NaPulse Starting, NaPulse Start-Stop and NaForce Start-Stop Sodium-ion automotive batteries to the diverse Malaysian market. This product is a testament to our commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions that not only elevate automotive performance but also contribute to a more sustainable future,” he said.

Engineered for Malaysia’s Heat

A key advantage of Sodium-ion batteries is their stability under extreme temperatures — a major consideration for Malaysia’s tropical climate. In conditions where engine bays can exceed 60°C, lead-acid batteries often degrade quickly or swell. However, Sodium-ion units maintain consistent power and avoid thermal hazards such as fire or explosion.

Aeson Power’s Sodium-ion batteries can operate continuously in temperatures up to 80°C, and even after one month of storage at 60°C, they retain over 85% of their capacity. This makes them particularly suitable for drivers facing Malaysia’s hot, stop-start urban conditions.

Another key advantage of Aeson Power’s batteries is that they are about 60% lighter than conventional lead-acid batteries which typically weigh around 14 to 23kg. As such, the Sodium-ion batteries are easier and safer to handle during installation.

Built on Advanced Polyanion Technology

At the heart of Aeson Power’s Sodium-ion batteries is a polyanion cathode material that delivers a mix of lightweight construction, ultra-fast charging, and robust performance. The batteries can charge from 0% to 100% in just 40 minutes, while offering high-rate discharge for powerful starts and ultra-low self-discharge for longer storage life. The batteries are also resilient to over-discharge and have the ability to recover rapidly even when it’s fully discharged to 0 volts.

They also boast up to three times the cycle life of lead-acid batteries — 3,000 cycles at 50% depth of discharge compared to 500–1,200 cycles for conventional batteries. Even in hot environments, their performance degradation is minimal, whereas lead-acid batteries typically lose 15% of cycle life for every 10°C temperature rise.

In terms of cranking power, Aeson Power’s Sodium-ion batteries deliver starting performance two to three times stronger than lead-acid, with peak current in the first 0.3 seconds exceeding threefold. Their wide voltage range (6–14V) also allows vehicles to start reliably even at 10.5V, whereas lead-acid batteries often fail below 12V.
