UMW Toyota Opens Aftersales Service Network To Reconditioned Toyota Vehicles

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) is extending its authorised aftersales services to reconditioned (recond) / grey import Toyota vehicles sold through unofficial channels, giving owners access to Toyota-certified technicians, genuine parts and established maintenance standards.

The nationwide initiative, introduced under Toyota Extra Mile, is aimed at recond Toyota owners who may not have previously considered authorised Toyota service centres as an option for maintaining their vehicles.

The campaign extends UMWT’s aftersales expertise beyond vehicles sold through its official distribution network, allowing owners of reconditioned Toyotas to tap into the company’s established service infrastructure.

UMWT said the initiative reflects Toyota’s commitment to Quality, Durability and Reliability, with every Toyota deserving proper care regardless of its route into the Malaysian market.

The company believes that maintaining a vehicle according to the manufacturer’s standards is important to preserving its performance and dependability throughout its lifespan.

Owners participating in the campaign will have access to Toyota-certified technicians, genuine parts and maintenance procedures backed by the brand’s established service standards.

UMWT currently operates 103 Toyota service centres nationwide, providing recond Toyota owners with access to its aftersales network across Malaysia.

Customers can enquire about the campaign and participating locations through www.toyota.com.my, or at their nearest authorised Toyota service centre or GR Garage.

CarTok Editor’s Note

This is an interesting development in Malaysia’s grey import vehicle market. Traditionally, buyers of reconditioned Toyotas have had to rely on independent workshops or the dealers who imported and sold them for maintenance and repairs.

UMWT’s decision to open its aftersales network to these vehicles is a welcome move and gives owners another option, particularly those who value genuine parts and technicians familiar with Toyota engineering.

There is also a commercial benefit for UMWT. A Toyota that enters Malaysia through an unofficial channel may not contribute to the company’s new vehicle sales, but its owner could still become an aftersales customer. With 103 service centres nationwide, that represents an opportunity to build customer relationships beyond its official vehicle sales network.
