GWM Malaysia Turns Three: From Newcomer to Power Player, and It’s Just Getting Started

Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia is celebrating three years on Malaysian roads with the campaign “Go With More Moving Moments,” a theme that perfectly captures its rapid rise from a new player in 2022 to one of the fastest-growing names in the SUV and EV space today.

In just three years, GWM has gone from a single-brand introduction to a full-fledged lineup that includes the ORA Good Cat and ORA 07 EVs, the HAVAL H6 HEV hybrid SUV, and the rugged TANK 300 and TANK 500 HEV. The brand now counts over 30 outlets nationwide, supported by a growing aftersales network and an increasingly loyal customer base.

“Malaysia is one of GWM’s most dynamic and promising markets in Southeast Asia. In just three years, we have built a strong foundation of trust, innovation, and local engagement. Moving forward, we are committed to deepening localisation, expanding our product line-up, and enhancing the ownership experience,” said Cui Anqi, Managing Director of GWM Malaysia.

The numbers back it up — 2,532% sales growth in 2023, followed by 83% in 2024 and 313% year-to-date in 2025 — a trajectory few automakers can boast. And it’s not just volume: the HAVAL H6 HEV has become Malaysia’s No. 2 hybrid SUV overall, and the No. 1 Chinese hybrid SUV, cementing GWM’s credibility in hybrid technology.

Next Stop: CKD, More Models, More Tech

Looking ahead, GWM Malaysia is gearing up for the next phase — local assembly (CKD), dealer expansion, and the rollout of new energy vehicles (NEVs) that span hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and full-electric models.

The next big arrival? The WEY G9 MPV is set to make its Malaysian debut soon. Described as “First-Class For All,” it’s designed to redefine the premium MPV segment with its blend of luxury, performance, and tech.

GWM will also be strengthening its HAVAL SUV range with new models targeting Malaysian families seeking practicality and intelligence — while introducing its Hi4 intelligent hybrid system for even smarter performance suited to local roads.

“GWM is not here for the short term. We are here to build long-term trust with Malaysians through our products, our people, and our partnerships,” said Roslan Abdullah, Chief Operating Officer of GWM Malaysia. “Our focus is on delivering genuine value, not just in price but in experience, quality, and care.”

Celebrate and Win

To mark its third anniversary, GWM Malaysia is giving back to customers with a “Book and Win” campaign, featuring up to RM150,000 worth of gift rewards. On top of that, customers can enjoy exclusive trade-in and warranty offers across key models:

  • HAVAL H6 HEV: RM5,000 trade-in support, 5 years free maintenance, 10-year HEV battery warranty
  • TANK 300: RM8,000 trade-in support, 5 years free maintenance, lifetime engine & transmission warranty
  • TANK 500: RM5,000 trade-in support, 5 years free maintenance, lifetime engine, transmission & HEV system warranty

It’s been a fast and furious three years for GWM Malaysia — and judging by its momentum, the road ahead looks even more electrifying.

From cutesy EVs to tough TANKs, GWM’s got it covered. Three years down it’s clear that they’re not just about moving moments; they’re moving the game.
