Thunder Custom LS250-S Launched in Malaysia, Bringing Factory-Built Bobber Culture Within Reach

Thunder Custom has officially entered the Malaysian market with the launch of the Thunder LS250-S, marking the arrival of what the brand positions as the world’s first factory-built 250cc custom bobber.

Distributed locally by Bike Continent Sdn Bhd, and imported by Mofaz Motosikal Sdn Bhd, the Malaysian debut represents a notable moment for the country’s evolving custom motorcycle scene—one shaped by riders who value individuality, without giving up factory reliability or everyday usability.”

The launch event included the ceremonial handover of 88 units to new owners, underlining early confidence in the model and setting the tone for Thunder’s longer-term ambitions in the region.

Japanese Custom DNA, Built with Factory Discipline

The LS250-S is shaped by Japanese custom sensibilities, overseen by renowned builder Kenji-san (Noro Yuji), alongside China-based custom specialist Ka-san. Their combined approach blends traditional bobber aesthetics with production-level consistency—an uncommon pairing in the sub-300cc segment.

Rather than offering a styling package on top of a standard platform, Thunder’s approach is to deliver a complete, show-ready, road-ready custom motorcycle straight from the factory, eliminating the need for costly or time-consuming aftermarket modifications.

The LS250-S leans heavily into classic bobber cues: a 74-style springer front fork, peanut fuel tank, low solo seat, wire-spoke wheels, and a deliberately oversized rear sprocket that adds both visual presence and torque-biased character. A handmade loud exhaust completes the old-school silhouette.

Substance Beneath the Style

While the LS250-S makes its statement visually, Thunder has also ensured the mechanical fundamentals align with modern riding expectations.

The motorcycle is built around a high-carbon steel chassis, paired with a springer front suspension and a rear damping spring shock absorber, prioritising stance and stability over outright performance, while balancing classic aesthetics with everyday rideability. The bike has a 1,570mm wheelbase and ground clearance of 110mm, and a net weight of 110kg. Braking duties are handled by a 300mm front disc and 280mm rear disc, both equipped with ABS, providing an added layer of reassurance for urban and highway use.

Tyres come in a 5.0-16 serrated profile front and rear, reinforcing the bike’s chunky stance while maintaining grip consistency—an important detail for a motorcycle that prioritises form without ignoring function.

Designed for Malaysia, Priced for Reality

Power comes from a 250cc fuel-injected V-twin engine, positioning the LS250-S as an accessible entry point into the custom world. In Malaysia, this capacity does not require a full B licence, broadening its appeal to newer riders and lifestyle-focused buyers.

Thunder and Bike Continent have also placed emphasis on local ownership support, with the LS250-S positioned as community-ready—easy to personalise, backed by local parts availability, and aligned with Malaysia’s active group riding and custom event culture.

Its attractive pricing strengthens the value proposition further. While the LS250-S reportedly retails in Japan at ¥996,000 (approximately RM26,000), the Malaysian market sees the model introduced at RM23,788, undercutting its home-market pricing while retaining core specifications.

Lowering the Barrier to Custom Ownership

The LS250-S challenges the long-held assumption that custom motorcycles must be expensive, mechanically intimidating, or impractical for daily use. Instead, Thunder offers a factory-built alternative that captures the spirit of traditional bobber culture, without demanding deep pockets or workshop downtime.

CarTok Editor’s Note

Custom bikes have always been about expression—but Thunder’s approach suggests that expression doesn’t have to come with stress, spreadsheets, or spanners. The LS250-S isn’t trying to replace hand-built customs; it’s making the culture reachable. And in Malaysia’s evolving bike scene, that matters.

With Bike Continent steering the brand’s local presence, Thunder Custom’s Malaysian arrival comes across less as a novelty launch and more as a deliberate attempt to make custom motorcycling part of the mainstream conversation.
