Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has officially launched the all-new Nissan Serena e-POWER in Malaysia, marking the arrival of the sixth-generation (C28) Serena with Nissan’s latest 2nd-generation e-POWER electrified drivetrain.
Locally assembled (CKD) in Serendah, Selangor, the new Serena e-POWER is offered in five variants, priced from RM154,800 to RM179,800 (on-the-road, without insurance).

EV Drive Without The Plug
The Serena e-POWER uses Nissan’s series-hybrid system. Unlike conventional hybrids, the wheels are driven entirely by an electric motor, while a 1.4-litre three-cylinder petrol engine functions solely as a generator to charge the battery.
Output stands at 163 PS (120 kW) and 315 Nm of torque. Powering the motor is a 1.77 kWh lithium-ion battery, replenished by the 1.4-litre HR14DDe three-cylinder engine.

Nissan claims fuel consumption of 18.5 km/L (NEDC), with a potential driving range of up to 1,000 km on a full tank.
The driving experience mirrors that of an EV, delivering instant torque and smooth, linear acceleration — without the need for external charging.
“The Nissan Serena is a key model in our portfolio, not only in sales volume but as a beacon that truly reflects the Nissan brand – a product that delivers excitement, innovation and value. The All-New Serena e-POWER advances the strengths of the C27 Serena S-Hybrid with significantly improved performance, refinement and efficiency, offering a smoothness and responsiveness that families will immediately appreciate,” said Khoo Cheng Pah, Chief Executive Officer, Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd.

“Nissan e-POWER is a catalyst for performance and drivability with no compromises in fuel efficiency, even in a family-oriented MPV such as the Serena. Based on the encouraging reception of the Nissan Kicks e-POWER crossover, we are confident of raising the MPV benchmark once again with the forthcoming launch of the All-New Nissan Serena e-POWER.”
Five Variants Available
The all-new Serena e-POWER is offered in:
- Serena e-POWER X – RM154,800
- Serena e-POWER X Plus – RM159,800
- Serena e-POWER Highway Star – RM169,800

Interior & Comfort
The Serena retains its practical seven-seat (2-2-3) layout, with multiple seating configurations for flexibility. Nissan highlights its “Zero Gravity” seats, aimed at reducing fatigue and motion discomfort during long journeys. The 2nd row seats can be moved apart from each other, or brought closer.

Depending on the variant, key interior features include:
- Dual 12.3-inch digital displays (instrument cluster + infotainment)
- 9-inch touchscreen (lower variant)
- 14-inch ceiling-mounted rear entertainment monitor
- Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
- Wireless charging
- Up to six USB ports
- Powered tailgate (higher variants)
- Premium quilted Nappa leather seats (Shiro Premium Highway Star)

Cabin refinement has also been improved with enhanced sound insulation and acoustic windscreen on higher variants.

Safety & ProPILOT
The Serena e-POWER comes equipped with Nissan Intelligent Mobility features, including:
- Intelligent Forward Collision Warning
- Intelligent Emergency Braking
- Blind Spot Warning
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Lane Departure Warning
- Driver Attention Alert

Higher variants add:
- ProPILOT (Intelligent Cruise Control with lane centring)
- Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection
- Blind Spot Intervention
Bigger Body, Familiar Practicality
The C28 Serena measures 4,765 mm in length, 1,715 mm in width, and 1,870 mm in height, with a 2,870 mm wheelbase.
The longer wheelbase improves cabin space, especially for second-row passengers.

Warranty Coverage
The Serena e-POWER comes with:
- 5-year / 100,000 km vehicle warranty
- 8-year / 160,000 km warranty for e-POWER components
CarTok Editor’s Note
The Serena has always been about space and family practicality. With e-POWER, Nissan adds something the segment rarely offers — genuine EV-like smoothness without range or charging anxiety.
At RM154k–RM179k, it sits in a price bracket where buyers expect refinement and technology, not just space.
The Highway Star appears to be the sweet spot of the range. But as always, the real headline is how it drives — and that’s something you should experience firsthand.
