DENZA B8 Combines 450 kW Hybrid Power With Luxury Off-Road Engineering

DENZA Malaysia has released some details about the DENZA B8 ahead of its Malaysian launch next week, highlighting the SUV’s combination of electrified performance, advanced chassis control, and off-road-focused engineering.

The B8 will become DENZA Malaysia’s first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model, built around three core technologies: the BYD-developed DMO (Dual Mode Off-Road) Super Hybrid platform, DiSus-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control Suspension, and a premium cabin experience focused on long-distance comfort and refinement.

Rather than treating capability, comfort, and electrification as separate priorities, DENZA says the B8 was engineered as an integrated system capable of handling urban driving, highway touring, and demanding terrain within a single platform.

DMO Super Hybrid System Produces 450 kW And 760 Nm

At the centre of the B8 is BYD’s DMO Super Hybrid platform, pairing a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with dual electric motors and the company’s Blade Battery technology.

Unlike conventional hybrid systems prioritising urban efficiency, the DMO setup is designed to deliver both off-road capability and sustained long-distance performance. In the B8, the system produces up to 450 kW and 760 Nm, while offering up to 115 km of pure electric range and a combined driving range of up to 1,040 km (NEDC).

DENZA says the system operates through multiple modes including Pure EV, HEV Series, and Parallel Mode, adjusting power delivery automatically depending on road conditions and driving demands.

The dual-motor configuration also allows more precise traction and torque management on uneven terrain while maintaining the refinement expected from a luxury SUV.

DiSus-P Suspension Focuses On Stability And Ride Comfort

The B8 also introduces the DiSus-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control Suspension system, which continuously adapts suspension behaviour in real time based on road conditions, speed, terrain, and vehicle dynamics.

Instead of relying on fixed drive modes alone, the system actively manages body movement and suspension responses to maintain ride stability and cabin comfort across varying environments.

Working alongside the drivetrain and torque distribution systems, DiSus-P is intended to improve both off-road composure and everyday driving refinement — an increasingly important balance for modern premium SUVs that are expected to perform across multiple use cases.

Rugged Exterior Meets Premium Cabin

Design-wise, the B8 adopts what DENZA calls a “Starship Mecha-inspired” exterior theme, featuring Starship Wing LED daytime running lights, Energy Thruster-inspired tail lamps, and a strong upright silhouette aimed at reinforcing its off-road identity.

Inside, the focus shifts toward luxury and usability. The SUV features a driver-oriented cabin layout, commanding seating position, and available Nappa leather upholstery for the Premium variant.

Also standard across the range is an 18-speaker Devialet premium audio system, underscoring DENZA’s push toward positioning the B8 as a technology-led luxury SUV rather than a traditional rugged off-roader.

Designed Around Integrated SUV Engineering

DENZA says the B8 targets a new generation of tech-focused and experience-driven SUV buyers seeking electrified performance, luxury refinement, and genuine capability without major compromises.

With integrated powertrain, suspension, and electronic control systems forming the core of the vehicle’s engineering approach, the B8 enters a growing segment where Chinese brands are increasingly challenging established premium SUV players not only on pricing and features, but also on technical sophistication.

More details, including Malaysian pricing and specifications, are expected during the SUV’s official launch next week.

CarTok Editor’s Note

The real shift happening in the industry is no longer just electrification, but how software, hybrid drivetrains, suspension systems, and chassis electronics are now being engineered together as one integrated package.

That may be DENZA B8’s most interesting selling point. The market already has electrified SUVs, but the B8 is attempting to combine luxury comfort, off-road capability, long-distance usability, and high performance into a single product without the traditional compromises.

Whether it truly delivers will only become clear after proper Malaysian real-world testing. Still, the pace at which Chinese brands are advancing in engineering integration is becoming increasingly difficult for established premium manufacturers to ignore.
