Boon Siew Honda Brings Road Safety Awareness To Kampung Angkat MADANI Community

Boon Siew Honda (BSH) continued its community outreach efforts through its Ride to Reach (R2R) programme by participating in the Karnival Kampung Angkat MADANI in Batu Maung, Penang recently.

The initiative focused on promoting road safety awareness, distributing protective riding gear, and providing free motorcycle inspections to local residents.

Road Safety Education For Local Communities

As part of the programme, Honda Certified Safety Riding instructors conducted a road safety talk attended by approximately 1,000 members of the surrounding community.

The session covered responsible riding practices, correct riding posture, suitable riding attire, and basic road safety awareness aimed at encouraging safer behaviour among road users.

According to Boon Siew Honda, the educational outreach forms part of its broader effort to improve motorcycle safety awareness at the grassroots level.

Free Helmets And Motorcycle Safety Checks

Following the safety briefing, the company distributed motorcycle helmets to 100 participants.

BSH also carried out complimentary 10-point motorcycle safety inspections covering various motorcycle brands. The inspections were designed to help riders identify potential maintenance issues while reinforcing the importance of regular preventive servicing.

The company said ensuring motorcycles remain in safe operating condition is an important factor in reducing road-related risks.

Supporting Honda’s Global Safety Vision

The initiative aligns with Honda’s global target of achieving zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles worldwide by 2050.

Guided by Honda’s “Safety for Everyone” philosophy, Boon Siew Honda continues to organise practical community programmes aimed at creating a safer road environment for all users.

Chief Administration Officer of Boon Siew Honda and Chairman of the Ride to Reach programme, Rosidan Haron, said road safety extends beyond the vehicles produced by manufacturers.

He said programmes such as Karnival Kampung Angkat MADANI allow the company to engage directly with communities, promote safe riding habits, encourage the use of appropriate safety equipment, and support essential motorcycle maintenance.

Third Community Safety Outreach Programme

The Kampung Angkat MADANI initiative is a federal government programme designed to strengthen community development through collaboration between public and private sector organisations.

According to BSH, the Batu Maung event marks the company’s third community safety outreach initiative under the Ride to Reach programme.

Collectively, these efforts have directly benefited more than 350 individuals through motorcycle gear distribution and maintenance support activities.

BSH said it plans to further expand the Ride to Reach programme by working closely with government agencies and industry partners to bring road safety initiatives to more communities across Malaysia.

CarTok Editor’s Note

Road safety discussions in Malaysia usually revolve around enforcement, infrastructure and vehicle technology. But many accidents still come down to rider behaviour, awareness and basic motorcycle upkeep. Programmes like Ride to Reach may not have the excitement as a new motorcycle launch, but their impact can extend far beyond individual riders. Cultivating safer riding habits and encouraging regular maintenance helps create safer communities, reduces the social and economic costs of road accidents, and contributes to a healthier transport ecosystem for everyone.
