Public EV charging is becoming less about finding a charger and increasingly about making the experience as effortless as possible. Gentari is taking another step in that direction with the introduction of AutoCharge, a new Gentari Go app feature that lets compatible electric vehicles begin charging automatically once they’re plugged into selected DC fast chargers.
Available from today, this feature removes steps that have become routine for many EV owners. After a one-time setup, drivers no longer need to launch the Gentari Go app, scan a QR code or tap an RFID card before charging can begin.
Instead, the system recognises the registered vehicle automatically when it is connected to a compatible Gentari DC charger, allowing the charging session to start seamlessly.

Gentari said AutoCharge will be introduced progressively across its DC charging network, focusing first on major travel routes and urban locations.
To celebrate the rollout, the first 500 users who successfully activate AutoCharge and complete their first charging session will receive RM10 in Gentari Go credits.

Designed To Make Charging Feel More Like Refuelling
According to Gentari Chief Green Mobility Officer Fadzrul Ahmad, Malaysia’s EV ecosystem has reached a point where improving the charging experience is becoming just as important as expanding charging infrastructure.
“Malaysia’s EV ecosystem is entering a phase where everyday user experience matters as much as infrastructure expansion. AutoCharge removes the need for multiple apps and manual steps, making public charging simpler, faster and more intuitive for EV drivers. The result is exactly what it should be: Plug-in, Charge and Go.”
AutoCharge aims to reduce friction during public charging by making the process almost as straightforward as plugging in and waiting for charging to begin.
There are no additional charges for using the feature, with existing charging tariffs, Gentari Go plans and ongoing promotions remaining unchanged.

Rewards Updated, Security Enhanced
The latest Gentari Go app update also introduces changes to its rewards programme.
Points earned before 30 June 2026 remain valid until 31 December, while points earned from 1 July onwards will expire after 180 days.
Users will also need to verify their mobile number before accessing Gentari Go credits, a measure intended to improve account security while providing clearer information on credit balances and expiry dates.
The updated Gentari Go app is available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Growing Beyond Malaysia
Gentari currently operates more than 600 EV charging points nationwide. But through the Gentari Go Roaming Hub, users can access more than 18,000 charging points across Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and India using a single platform.
The company has also published a list of supported EV models and compatible charging locations on the Gentari Go app and its website as the AutoCharge rollout expands.
CarTok Editor’s Note
As Malaysia’s charging network grows, convenience may become the next competitive advantage. Features like AutoCharge don’t expand the network, but they do make using it feel more seamless — a reminder that software can improve the ownership experience just as much as hardware.
