2026 PROTON S70 Lite, Prime Start From RM56,800 With Early Bird Rebate
PROTON has expanded the S70 range with two new variants, the 2026 S70 Lite and S70 Prime, bringing the starting price of the sedan down to RM56,800 after an introductory RM3,000 early-bird rebate.
Before the rebate, the S70 Lite is priced at RM59,800 in Peninsular Malaysia, while the S70 Prime costs RM62,800. East Malaysian pricing is RM61,800 for the Lite and RM64,800 for the Prime.
The RM3,000 early-bird reward is available to customers who book and register either variant by 31 December 2026, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
The two variants join the existing S70 line-up with a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine, giving buyers a lower-priced alternative to the turbocharged versions.
According to PROTON, the S70 has averaged more than 2,500 units in monthly sales in 2026. Since bookings for the Lite and Prime opened on 7 September, more than 10,000 bookings have reportedly been received.
Naturally Aspirated 1.5-Litre Engine
Both the S70 Lite and Prime use PROTON’s i-GT 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine paired with a CVT featuring a torque converter. In the Saga, the i-GT engine with dual variable valve timing produces 120PS and 150Nm.
PROTON says the powertrain is tuned for smooth and relaxed driving, with the Atkinson-cycle engine characteristics also aimed at keeping noise, vibration and harshness levels under control.
The two variants retain PROTON’s ride & handling characteristics and come with three selectable driving modes.
Space And Everyday Convenience
The new S70 variants retain the model’s wide body and relatively long wheelbase, with PROTON highlighting cabin space and rear passenger shoulder room.
A near-flat rear floor is intended to make it easier for three passengers to sit across the rear bench.
Inside, the S70 gets a soft-touch instrument panel, additional storage areas and various convenience features, although equipment varies between the Lite and Prime.
These include an electric parking brake with Auto Brake Hold, auto up/down windows with anti-trap protection, remote engine start and five USB ports.
Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also planned for the two variants from October 2026.
Safety Equipment Includes Rear Side Radar
Safety equipment includes six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a reverse camera and Rear Seat Reminder as standard.
Depending on variant, the S70 also gets a Rear Side Radar System incorporating Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Door Opening Warning and Rear Collision Warning.
This gives the lower-priced S70 variants a fairly broad collection of driver-assistance and parking-related features without requiring buyers to move into the higher-spec versions of the range.
Ownership Package
PROTON is also packaging the S70 Lite and Prime with a five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty and six scheduled services with free labour under its Pro-Warranty programme.
Eligible customers can access Pro-Finance financing of up to nine years, with interest rates starting from 2.35% per annum, subject to approval and applicable terms.
For customers trading in an existing vehicle, Pro-Trade-In offers overtrade support of up to RM2,000, alongside other applicable offers.
PROTON Insurance Programme, or Pro-Shield, is also available as an optional insurance package with additional coverage including Special Perils, windscreen protection, enhanced flood relief of up to RM2,000 and passenger personal accident coverage of up to RM15,000 per person for up to four passengers.
After-sales initiatives include Fast Service for scheduled basic maintenance, as well as a 1-Day Service Delivery programme for eligible jobs.
PROTON says vehicles requiring repairs that take more than three working days may qualify for a relief car and one complimentary service, including parts and labour, subject to the programme’s terms.

The S70 Lite and Prime are significant for a fairly straightforward reason: they bring the S70 to the sub-RM60,000 price territory without stripping away some features that buyers expect.
The naturally aspirated engine also gives PROTON another way to position the S70 for buyers who are less interested in outright performance and more concerned with everyday driving and ownership costs.
At RM56,800 after the early-bird rebate, the Lite is clearly intended to widen the S70’s reach. But at RM59,800 (after rebate), the Prime isn’t too out of reach, particularly for buyers taking the longest loan tenure.
