Hyundai Opens Bookings for IONIQ 5 N & IONIQ 6 N, Headlines Penang Autoshow 2026 With Electrified Performance Push

Hyundai Motor Malaysia is stepping into a new phase of its local strategy, using the Penang Autoshow 2026 as a launchpad for its first electrified high-performance models in the country.
The brand has officially opened bookings for the IONIQ 5 N and IONIQ 6 N, marking Hyundai’s entry into the electrified performance space in Malaysia, with estimated prices starting from RM450,000 and RM460,000 respectively.

The move signals a clear shift in Hyundai’s positioning locally — from mainstream mobility to a broader mix that now includes enthusiast-focused, performance-driven electrified models.
“Today marks a special occasion for us as it’s Hyundai Motor Malaysia’s first time participating in the Malaysia Autoshow event, since the brand’s direct entry to Malaysia. Celebrating our debut, we are welcoming a thrilling new era of electrified high-performance with the Hyundai N though the IONIQ 5 N and 6 N models. Each model we introduce to the market was designed to meet different lifestyles and needs, while reflecting our commitment to our customers in Malaysia – Sentiasa di sisi anda,” said Ms Jahabarnisa Haja Mohideen, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor Malaysia.

Hyundai N: Electrified Performance Models Now Open for Booking
The introduction of the Hyundai N line-up brings track-focused engineering into an electrified format, with both models developed from the brand’s motorsport experience and fine-tuned at Nürburgring.
IONIQ 5 N: Track-Bred, Road-Ready
The IONIQ 5 N, crowned 2024 World Performance Car, delivers 650PS and a 0–100 km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 260 km/h. Despite its performance focus, it retains a WLTP-rated range of up to 448 km.
Hyundai positions it as a model that challenges the idea that electrified cars lack engagement, pairing track-tuned hardware with driver-focused technologies.

IONIQ 6 N: Performance Refined
The IONIQ 6 N builds on that formula with a more aerodynamic sedan profile and an even quicker 0–100 km/h time of 3.2 seconds. It produces the same 650PS, reaches a top speed of 257 km/h, and offers a longer WLTP range of up to 487 km.
Unique elements such as a swan neck spoiler and integrated interior action camera mount underline its performance intent, while aiming to deliver a more refined driving character.
Both models will be built-to-order, with Hyundai positioning them as exclusive offerings. Each booking also comes with Hyundai N merchandise worth RM2,000.

CarTok Editor’s Note
Let’s not overcomplicate it — these are high-performance EVs with serious numbers, but they’re not volume sellers. They’re brand-building icons, here to make a statement. At RM450k–RM460k, the question is whether Malaysian buyers are willing to put a Hyundai in the same consideration set as more established premium performance names.
