Hyundai Launches IONIQ 5 N And IONIQ 6 N In Malaysia At KLIMS 2026

Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) has launched the high-performance Hyundai IONIQ 5 N and Hyundai IONIQ 6 N at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, marking the arrival of Hyundai’s N electric performance division in Malaysia.

Priced from RM443,888 for the IONIQ 5 N and RM449,888 for the IONIQ 6 N, both models are available on a built-to-order basis through selected Hyundai N authorised dealers nationwide.

The launch introduces a new category of performance EVs to the local market, combining track-focused engineering with everyday usability. Hyundai’s N division draws heavily from its motorsport experience, with development work carried out at the Namyang R&D Centre in South Korea before extensive testing at Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife.

According to Hyundai Motor Malaysia Managing Director Jahabarnisa Haja Mohideen, the new N models demonstrate that electric vehicles can deliver an engaging and emotional driving experience while maintaining practicality for daily use.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 N

The IONIQ 5 N arrives as Hyundai’s high-performance electric crossover and was named the 2024 World Performance Car.

Power comes from a dual-motor electric drivetrain producing up to 650PS with N Grin Boost activated. The crossover accelerates from 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 260km/h.

Despite its performance credentials, the IONIQ 5 N offers a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 448km and retains the practicality of the standard IONIQ 5, including its generous 3,000mm wheelbase.

Key N-specific technologies include N e-Shift, which simulates an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, N Active Sound+, N Drift Optimiser, N Torque Distribution, N Launch Control and N Grin Boost.

The IONIQ 5 N is priced at RM443,888.

Hyundai IONIQ 6 N

Making its Malaysian debut alongside the crossover is the IONIQ 6 N performance sedan, which was recently crowned the 2026 World Performance Car.

Built on the aerodynamic IONIQ 6 platform with a drag coefficient of just 0.27 Cd, the sedan adopts a more focused performance character while maintaining long-distance efficiency.

Like the IONIQ 5 N, the IONIQ 6 N produces up to 650PS with N Grin Boost engaged. It completes the century sprint in 3.2 seconds, reaches a top speed of 257km/h and delivers a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 487km.

The model also features Hyundai’s stroke-sensing Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) system for enhanced handling and ride control.

The IONIQ 6 N is priced at RM449,888.

Hyundai Showcase At KLIMS 2026

Beyond the two N performance models, Hyundai is displaying its broader product range at KLIMS 2026, including the Tucson, Santa Fe, Staria and N Line models.

Visitors can also participate in test drives, football-themed activities and view the Hyundai Cup Trophy, which is making a stop in Malaysia as part of a regional tour celebrating 30 years of ASEAN football. The trophy will be displayed at Hyundai’s booth from 12 to 15 June.

Hyundai is also running nationwide June promotions across selected Santa Fe, Tucson and Staria models, with customers offered either cash rebates and ownership benefits under the Total Drive Reward programme or direct purchase discounts of up to RM36,000 depending on the model.

Bookings for the IONIQ 5 N and IONIQ 6 N can be made through selected Hyundai N dealerships in the Klang Valley, Penang and Kuching.

CarTok Editor’s Note

Performance EVs are nothing new to Malaysia, but Hyundai’s approach is. Rather than positioning the IONIQ 5 N and IONIQ 6 N as luxury status symbols, Hyundai is selling them as driver’s cars that happen to be electric. Few vehicles at this price point offer Nürburgring-developed dynamics, family-car practicality and 3-second acceleration in the same package.
