BMW Motorrad Malaysia has introduced the all-new BMW F 450 GS, a lighter and more accessible adventure motorcycle designed to bring the brand’s legendary GS experience to a wider range of riders.
First revealed as a concept at the 2024 EICMA motorcycle show, the production-ready F 450 GS arrives as a mid-capacity adventure machine that combines everyday practicality, touring comfort and genuine off-road capability in a more manageable package than its larger GS siblings.
A New Entry Point Into The GS Family
According to BMW Group Malaysia Managing Director, Benjamin Nagel, the new model is not simply a smaller GS, but a purpose-built motorcycle that retains the core values that have defined the GS range for decades.
“The GS legacy has always been about freedom — the freedom to explore, to adapt, and to push boundaries wherever the road or trail may lead.”
He added that the F 450 GS was developed to meet growing demand for lighter motorcycles that remain uncompromising in quality, technology and riding enjoyment.

Distinctive GS Styling
The new F 450 GS adopts BMW Motorrad’s latest GS design language, featuring the signature front beak, slim rear section and distinctive LED headlight with X-shaped daytime running light signature.
Available exclusively in GS Trophy Racing Blue Metallic, the motorcycle also comes standard with white hand guards, a tinted Rallye windscreen and off-road footpegs.
BMW has focused heavily on rider ergonomics, with a high-mounted aluminium handlebar, slim bodywork and a 14-litre fuel tank designed to provide comfort whether seated on the road or standing during off-road riding.
The motorcycle is equipped with a two-piece seat and adjustable foot controls, including a foot brake lever that can be repositioned by 20mm without tools.

Lightweight Chassis Built For Adventure
The F 450 GS uses a steel frame paired with a lightweight aluminium swingarm, balancing durability and ease of repair for adventure riding.
Key chassis specifications include:
- 1,465mm wheelbase
- 28.1-degree steering head angle
- 115mm trail
- 180mm front and rear suspension travel
At the front, riders get 43mm upside-down forks with adjustable rebound and compression damping, while the rear suspension features a centrally mounted shock absorber with adjustable preload and rebound damping.
The bike rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast aluminium wheels fitted with tubeless dual-purpose tyres.
Braking duties are handled by a 310mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston fixed caliper, while the rear uses a 240mm single-disc setup.

New 450cc Twin-Cylinder Engine
Power comes from an all-new liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine producing 48 hp at 8,750 rpm, and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm.
BMW claims fuel consumption of just 3.8 litres per 100km.
Performance figures include:
- 0-100 km/h: 5.9 seconds
- Top speed: 165 km/h
The engine features a counterbalance shaft to minimise vibration, while a wet-sump lubrication system ensures reliable operation across varying riding conditions.
An aluminium engine guard is included as standard on the Trophy variant.

Easy Ride Clutch Debuts On The Trophy Edition
One of the most significant highlights of the new F 450 GS is BMW Motorrad’s Easy Ride Clutch (ERC), available exclusively on the Trophy edition.
The centrifugal clutch system automatically manages clutch engagement during starts, gear changes and low-speed manoeuvres, reducing rider workload in traffic and challenging off-road situations.
Unlike traditional automatic clutch systems, BMW says the ERC maintains full engine braking characteristics, providing a riding experience that closely mirrors a conventional manual clutch setup while significantly reducing the likelihood of stalling.
The system works alongside BMW Shift Assistant Pro, allowing clutchless upshifts and downshifts for smoother and faster gear changes.
Comprehensive Rider Assistance Technology
The F 450 GS Trophy comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of rider aids, including:
- ABS Pro
- Dynamic Brake Control (DBC)
- Dynamic Traction Control (DTC)
- Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR)
- Riding Modes Pro
Four riding modes are available: Rain, Road, Enduro, and Enduro Pro.
The Enduro Pro mode is designed specifically for more demanding off-road riding and allows greater rider control by deactivating wheelie control and rear-wheel ABS while offering additional customisation of traction control and throttle response settings.

6.5-Inch TFT Display Standard
The new adventure motorcycle also receives a 6.5-inch TFT display as standard, operated through BMW’s familiar multi-controller interface on the left handlebar.
The Trophy variant additionally gains a dedicated Sport Screen displaying information such as lean angle, traction control intervention and braking performance.
A USB-C charging port is also included.

Pricing In Malaysia
BMW Motorrad Malaysia has announced an estimated price of RM40,000 for the new BMW F 450 GS Trophy.
With its combination of approachable performance, advanced rider technology and genuine adventure-bike credentials, the F 450 GS positions itself as a compelling option for riders looking to enter the GS family without stepping up to the larger and considerably more expensive F 900 GS or R 1300 GS models.
CarTok.my Editor’s Note
Adventure motorcycles have steadily grown larger, heavier and more expensive over the years. The F 450 GS feels like BMW Motorrad recognising that not every rider needs a 1,300cc globe-trotter. For many Malaysians, a lighter 48hp machine that can handle weekday commutes, weekend breakfast runs and the occasional dirt trail may well be the more sensible adventure bike — even if “sensible” isn’t usually the word associated with a GS.
