GGR Expands Electric Motorcycle Network In Johor With GGR Motor X Ajak

GGR Motor is expanding its electric motorcycle presence in Johor with the opening of GGR Motor X Ajak in Taman Nusa Bestari. This gives consumers in Iskandar Puteri and surrounding areas a new location to view and find out more about the LION G1 electric scooter.

This latest outlet is headed by Malaysian entertainer Mohamad Hanaffi Razak, better known as Ajak Shiro, who serves as its Branch Director.

The outlet at No. 21, Jalan Bestari 1/5, Taman Nusa Bestari, was officially opened by Kota Iskandar state assemblyman YB Datuk Haji Pandak Ahmad, representing the Johor Menteri Besar.

According to GGR Group Managing Director Muhammad Musaddiq Mohamed Azmi, the opening comes after the company recorded sales of more than 10,000 units of the LION G1 within nine months of its launch.

He said the sales figure reflected consumer acceptance of electric motorcycles and confidence in GGR’s products.

GGR currently has 19 dealers nationwide, providing access to the LION G1 as well as accessories offered by GGR Motor.

“The expansion of the dealer network is important so consumers have convenient locations to see the motorcycles, obtain information and make choices according to their needs,” said Muhammad Musaddiq.

GGR Targets Wider Dealer Coverage

GGR is also looking to significantly expand its physical presence, with a target of opening 50 new branches nationwide by the end of 2026.

The company is particularly looking at states and areas where it does not yet have outlets such as Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak.

For 2027, GGR said it is targeting another 50 to 100 new branches and dealers, with after-sales support being an important consideration in deciding where to expand.

Muhammad Musaddiq said selling electric motorcycles / scooters without adequate after-sales support could ultimately affect customer confidence and the wider EV market.

“We look at places where there are still no EV shops. We want to focus on after-sales. If we only sell motorcycles without considering after-sales, sales and the EV market could decline afterwards,” he said.

The company is also considering areas such as Shah Alam, Selangor, and Langkawi, and in particular, tourism areas where GGR believes electric motorcycles could have potential applications.

GGR positions the LION G1 as an affordable form of electric mobility, with the company highlighting the absence of fuel costs and lower maintenance requirements.

Celebrity Partnerships Extend GGR’s Reach

The GGR Motor X Ajak outlet is part of a broader strategy involving collaborations with Malaysian personalities.

The company also cited its GGR X Johan and GGR X Farid Kamil partnerships as ways of introducing the GGR brand and electric motorcycles to a wider audience.

For Ajak, his involvement provides an opportunity to introduce electric mobility to consumers in Johor while giving potential buyers a physical location where they can see the motorcycle and ask questions about its operation.

He said the outlet aims to be a comfortable point of reference for residents in Iskandar Puteri and the surrounding area who want to learn more about electric motorcycles.

GGR also describes its electric motorcycle business as part of a broader lifestyle proposition, particularly for younger consumers.

LION G1 Priced From RM4,454

The LION G1 is equipped with a 3,000-watt hub motor, producing 140Nm of torque, and fitted with a 72V 32Ah battery.

It has a claimed top speed of 70km/h.

For Peninsular Malaysia, the LION G1 is priced at RM4,454 on the road, while the Sabah and Sarawak price is RM5,954, with road tax and insurance included.

The Johor outlet’s launch included a gathering with the Johor EV community. Visitors also participated in a lucky draw through purchases of exclusive GGR Motor X Ajak T-shirts and sweatshirts, with a LION G1 electric motorcycle offered as the grand prize.

CarTok Editor’s Note

GGR’s next challenge is not so much about getting people to notice the LION G1 but more about making electric motorcycles easy to own after the sale.

More than 10,000 units sold in nine months will give the company a useful base. But its plan to grow from 19 dealers to a much larger nationwide network means the company will have to scale up its inventory, servicing and customer support.

The involvement of familiar Malaysian personalities may help generate interest in the product, but the longer-term challenge is to build an ownership ecosystem that makes electric mobility practical.
